Patrick Collins of Elegant Angel Video appears on Ed Powers' radio show this Saturday night.

Patrick Collins of Elegant Angel Video appears on Ed Powers' radio show this Saturday night.

According to Rayne, her recent appearance on the Powers show two weeks ago inadvertently led to her firing as a house dancer from Scamps Theatre. She explains:

Rayne: "I was recently a guest on 97.1 FM Talk the Ed Powers shows. I was talking about Curveball "99", XXX Adult Film Stars playing softball and the proceeds benefitting Self Awareness for Disabled Americans.... I mentioned the event, the cause, the players, ticket sales, locations, and sponsors....

"The owner of the club (Scamps Theatre, where I was a house dancer) received sponsor information. They had the option to become an event sponsor and chose not to respond. Anyhow, I was talking about the event, etc.... The owner of the the club apparently heard me on the radio. A few days went by and I walked into the club to go to to work, and I was informed by the manager that the owner of the club heard me on the radio; and, because I mentioned another club and not his I was no longer allowed to work there anymore.....

"The next day I talked to Bob, the other owner......... I reminded him that they had the option to sponsor Curveball "99" and didn't respond..... I didn't feel it was fair of Scamps to 86 me because I didn't give them FREE promotion..... Bob said, "I know Rayne. Look, I like you. But, it's Jim's decision. I'll have him call you." Needless to say, I never heard from anyone....

"What it comes down to is this.... I'm trying to help people with disabilities. I went on the radio to promote an event which supports a good cause and I lost my job for it.... In the contract (which you have to sign to work there) all Dancers are considered Independent contractors, and there is an "At Will" Clause which allows the club to let you go for any reason and/or no reason at all..

Legally, the club can do what they want, but in my opinion, that doesn't make it right......If anyone has any questions or comments please write to me [email protected] 714-703-4553 or P.O.Box 698 Westminster, Ca. 92684

Rodger Jacobs writes: "Gene: In the wake of the announcement I made on your website today regarding my pending retirement from screenwriting I have received several well-deserved reprimands for failing to thank Serenity for her determined role in seeing that "Crazed", "Indigo Delta", and "Pornogothic" made it to the screen. Although I was not involved in the production of "Crazed" it was the first video that began Jonathan Morgan's "dark trilogy". Serenity starred in all three award-winning videos and she fought tooth-and-nail --- indeed putting her contract on the line at times --- to ensure that the scripts were produced by Wicked. I have the utmost respect for Serenity and Steve (Justice) and I thank them both for their persistence and energy in seeing that two of the projects I am most proud of were allowed to be made in a marketplace that is skittish about dark story-driven material yet seems to have no qualms about pushing the envelope where hardcore sexual material is concerned.

Every year, Jim South makes noises about resigning but never does and Steve Orenstein was elected to a 2 year term and is delighted about being on the Board.

"My two year term expires in 2000 but it is more than likely that I will still retain a seat on the Board thereafter. As AVN so profoundly stated this month, "I'm Still Standing." The NIGHT OF THE STARS Dinner/Dance on July 10th (at the Bonaventure Hotel) tickets are selling like hot cakes and it looks like we will have approximately 800 people in attendance. We have assembled some magnificent items for our Silent Auction and it is not too late for people to donate quality merchandise or services. It wasn't too long ago that, in order to get the attention of the press, a person had to actually DO something. Apparently, to become a "celebrity" in this business now, all a person needs to do is ramble incoherently like Jim Holliday on meperidine. These jokers are giving me a headache. MAKE IT STOP!!!!!

An female caller left this phone message last evening: "I want to be an anonymous source for you. I was reading your website today [Wednesday], and I was seeing that Mr. Robert Black was interested in signing another contract girl. Well could you find out how that's possible from him since he fired the last four....for different reasons, money being the biggest issue. Why don't you ask him that question and what happened to these people whether or not they're suing him. Call ya back after he responds...good bye."

Black had the message played for him to see if he could identify the woman. He couldn't.

Black: "We ain't hiring no new contract girls...there's no validity to any rumors. Who did we fire? We fired Iroc because she's fat, and she's back in Michigan...Alana because she didn't want to get her tits done and do the work that she wanted to do..she wanted me to co-sign for a loan on a set of tits that were like seven grand, but she put four grand down on a brand new car. I thought that was kind of pissy. Monique..just because she wanted to work more than what I could fuckin' have her work because we're not doing black stuff..and Stryc-9 because she's just an insufferable cunt...and Tiffany. everybody knows Tiffany.

"We have four contract girls right now that are super stars. You have Kristi Myst, Jessica Darlin, Ashlyn Gere and Jasmin St. Claire. I don't have the three or four other girls that we're trying to bring up and trying to make big. People get bored of seeing them in scenes. Back then the condom issue was a big deal. So if you could get a group of girls that would do no rubbers and suck ass juice off dicks and stuff like that, that was a big find. But now there's no more condom issue, really. It's all dead. So it's like why do we need to bring up Alana and the others and make them new characters? It's too much work. I'd rather stick with the four champions. Jasmin and Ashlyn are the established stars while Jessica and Kristi are going to lead the new revolution of Extreme. All four of those fuckin' girls cost double what four of the other girls would cost."

While discussing the subject of contract girls for un upcoming AVN feature, Vivid's Steve Hirsch elaborated on the recent signing of Sky as the new Vivid girl. Sky was formerly with Shane.

Hirsch: "As you know we just signed Sky. I think she'll be a great addition to our group of girls. She came to us and we were very pleased that she did. We think she'll do a great job. We're going to do a gonzo series with her called The Sky's The Limit. And she will be the new Debbie in Debbie Does Dallas. It'll be shot within the next couple of months. After talking to her for 15 minutes you realize she's the perfect Debbie. There's no question about it. She's bubbly. She smiles. She's cute. She interacts with you. I think that's the kind of quality you want for someone who plays Debbie. That was the first thing that we saw. Then she talked about the things she wanted to do, and we thought that makes sense for a gonzo series. So we're going to move in that direction as well."

WebSideStory Gets $30 Million Equity Investment

WebSideStory, a provider of Internet tracking and traffic analysis, received a $30 million investment from Summit Partners and TA Associates, which are taking a minority position in the company.

The two firms acquired shares from WebSideStory's founders and contributed a portion of the investment to the company.

This marks the first outside investment in WebSideStory, which says it has been profitable throughout its nearly three years of existence. The company was originally founded in 1996 by a French couple, Blaise and Agnes Barrelet, who have managed growth to date entirely with retained earnings.

"Though we have been approached a number of times, I never saw the logic in giving up control of the company by going the typical venture capital route," said Blaise Barrelet, founder and CEO of WebSideStory. "But I do recognize that influential, business-savvy investors can help us grow the company to its full potential."

"Our philosophy is to invest in and support rapidly growing and profitable private companies with outstanding management teams," said Walter Kortschak, general partner at Summit Partners.

"WebSideStory meets these criteria, and we look forward to our partnership with the company and contributing to its further success."

". . .we invest in profitable companies with proven management and technologies. WebSideStory is a perfect fit and we anticipate it will enjoy tremendous growth in the coming years," said Benjamin Ball, vice president with TA Associates.

WebSideStory is the creator of HitBOX Tracker, Web traffic analysis technology; HitBOX.com, a community of independent Web sites ranked by traffic; StatMarket.com, a source of data on Internet user trends; and Yep.com, a search engine based on popularity and quality.

According to the Baltimore Sun, a Motley Crue concert earlier this week got a little out of hand when two naked women simulated a sex act on stage. The indicent occured at Merriweather Post Pavilion on Tuesday night and caught Howard County police by surprise and shocked some fans, prompting police to ban the band from returning to the Columbia venue.

According to the news story, while the band performed the song, "Same Old Situation," two women appeared on stage, undressed and simulated a sexual act while some audience members cheered. Nobody knew it was coming except for the band," said Rick Strauss, a program director at 98 Rock, the radio station that helped sponsor the concert. "My jaw dropped like everyone else's." The incident appeared on a large television screen at the concert. attendants said.

The band is unapologetic and has no plan to change its show, a member said, according to the newspaper.

"Hey, it's rock 'n' roll," said band member Nikki Sixx, en route to a New York performance.

The group kicked off a 40-city "Maximum Rock" tour at Merriweather with another band, the Scorpions. Each band performed for 90 minutes before 9,000 fans.

About 20 officers and 30 private security personnel supervised the concert. Police were on the perimeter, however, and did not witness the scene on stage, they said. No one was arrested in connection with the performance, police said.

In response to the flood of e-mails and calls coming in regarding next week's Adult Expo, July 8-10, and registering to get in, that can be done either of two ways: you can register online at adult-expo.com; or come in person to the LA Convention Center.

An article titled "Small Video Shops Surviving Behind the Green Door" appears in today's business section of the LA Times. AVN publisher Paul Fishbein is quoted as saying that overall sales and rentals of adult video products are flattening out, marking the "first down-tick we've seen since we began doing surveys eight years ago."

In any event, independent video store owners are saying renting adult movies is still the only way they can compete against giants such as Blockbuster.

Adan Naldzhyan, owner of Video Hut in Los Feliz, has a stock of about 5,000 adult tapes out of 28,000 tapes and says revenues generated from adult material help his store compete against the nearby Blockbuster Video outlet.

Says the Times article" All over the country, independent video store owners, faced with mounting competition from big public chains...are holding their own by carrying adult videos, which the big chains don't stock and which always have been highly profitable because of their low purchase price.... and now that Blockbuster and the other major players are aggressively seeking to expand their market share by boosting their inventories of new releases and guaranteeing the availability of hit titles, independent retailers are depending even more on adult videos."

John Merchant, who owns four 49er Video stores in Sacramento, said adult video rentals account for between 12% and 20% of total revenue, up from 6% to 8% two years ago. Merchant said carrying adult product is part of the necessity of competing in today's market.

"It's part of our overall survival strategy," Merchant said in the article. "Blockbuster and Hollywood are now carrying eight to 10 times as many copies of new releases as we are, and backing it up with millions of dollars in advertising...we need to look at other revenue streams to keep us viable, and adult is one of them."

"Most independent video stores carry adult product," Fishbein added. "It's the only thing that allows them to compete with the big chains."

With the growing dependency of independent stores on adult videos comes a growing need to stay aware of local obscenity laws and zoning ordinances.

Gene sez: "Gigi thinks the AirTel Hotel is a lot better."

By the tone of her following two e-mails, Galaxina Galactica's under the distinct impression that she called Gene Ross yesterday, and a totally different reality transpired than what actually happened. Here are her latest communiques:

E-mail #1: "I called Ross cos kevin wanted me to,I feel set up!the man seemed how do I say searching in his voic yet a few laughs to show me dont be afaird to talk,it is just a bad feeling because I was not done talking and he siad to me ok I got it now Ill let you go,I call back and one more time and the 3d time his recep said well he is bz on the line right now I will put you on his voice mail so it cut me off I dont want to clal again, he said hummm so did your brother send this letter then befor your suposely death

Galactica: "Like trying to catch me in a lie! so I said well how if he did I dont think so and that did not make sence so I called back and tyed to talk to him but I was nervos and I talk fast and then that made no sence so I clled again the message thingy cut me off, heres the thing>>>> I have proof of sucide attempts if thats what people want by a councerl of pain pills achol and razer blades that was pretty bad about a week or two befor had that I did it really bad! so if anything billy then saw it was not good with me and wrote a letter even me my self put on a dam GalxyGG good bye normma gene and that I loved everyone! so perhaps billy saw that and sent it and then it happend I dont fn know!

I have done nothing wrong but perhaps ones wish I was really gone.

Gene Ross sez: "Ross was setting Galactica up? Trying to catch her in lies? Huh? What is she talking about?"

E-Mail #2 from Galaxina: "Gene) I have calmed down just Im mad coz this is not a PR stunt, infact what I went through is to real and been going through a lot in my life I stated that in the fist letter like I said a moving of my life into Galactic Galaxina is no PR stunt to me,in fact I follow lets just say the song by Ozzy crzy Train you got to listen to my words and the song Mr.Crowely as well as Sin the song, I am musicaly trained and in the occult and togethere I do have a stong message ahead, comicbooks for PR what a laugh! thats called just transcending my inner conflicts I have had embracing opening a vortex and communicating with that and releasing her same as dancing but done so like intersceting worlds, the occult does offer a lot of paths and all the pain grief confussion I have had in my life I have finally relized theres a meaning and purpose for us all,and perhaps I was not ready to release my self and tradyies broke out and the time Jan 1st for the website ect just so happens to be not only in tune with my ability to dance again but shall be done by then sorry if it seems odd but thats how it turned out,and I have som much proof its not even funny and perhaps this was my first incounter with the worlds confussion and deluions not able to see past the celestiral spears there blocked there vision and insight and see only the clowd and forms images to there own minds interpation whice has resulted in ones confusion about me,anyways again thank you for listening roxxxy Galactic Galaxina"

Gene Ross sez: "Galaxina may have dabbled a little too much in the occult for her own good. The following is a transcript of what was really said yesterday afternoon together with some prefaced remarks."

For shits and giggles, a local LA radio program features a segment where taped Jessie Jackson speeches from CNN are played on the air and listeners call in trying to decipher what Jackson is saying...

By the same token, Galaxina Galactica, a walking cryptogram, is not the easiest person in the world to interview. Not because she plays things close to the chest. Just the opposite. It's the chest-part that's caused all the problems. Galaxina is a small girl who wanted to have gigantic, unwordly boobs. She shopped for a doctor who would give her what she wanted. Most medicos, being of sound mind, however, would not accommodate her. But one did... apparently with disastrous consequences. Galactica was rumored to be in such pain from medication and surgeries-gone-haywire that she was supposed to have taken her life this past May in an apparent drug overdose. This was proved, later, to be a fallacious story.

Galaxina's open and quite voluble but registers everything in a voice that can best be described as Minnie Mouse on nitrous oxide at 78 rpm. This is not an exaggeration by any stretch. In order to make any sense of what she said, the interview tape had to be literally brought down to a speed-at-a-crawl. And then it was difficult to make out certain things. But here goes..

In instances where Gene Ross asks questions that seem fairly obvious to the statement previously made, bear in mind, it's only because Galactica's comments were nearly indecipherable. If it all reads like an Abbott And Costello who's on first routine, that's because it was.

Galactica: "I just got back from LA. [She makes a comment that sounds something like vermin in her car going crazy.]

G. Ross: What exactly happened? I know you were going through a lot of problems. How did someone get the impression that you were gone from this earth?

Galactica: Aaaaagh... Oh God... you didn't get my letter? [The cryptic e-mail that was posted on this site yesterday].

G. Ross: "I got your letter...but....

Galactica: "I know...it was crazy..I was trying so hard to correct...and pull my hair out...those X Files are not in yet...what happened...it was really depressing what was going on. I had been going through so many surgeries with this DOCTOR...I call him Dr. Frankenstein. This time it wasn't good. He didn't do the right flap...okay...he should have done it..he didn't do it...you know all that. I was really down. It opened up finally like to the size of a dot. That's all. But I knew it wasn't good news. Right after that, no matter what I said to this doctor he was going to ignore me, and I got really down...I've been down a long time..I've been down all year long."

G. Ross: "Who recommended this particular doctor to you?"

Galactica: "Actually, I found him on my own. A friend of mine had other surgeries, but I found him on my own...then I talked to another doctor...

G. Ross: "Where was he located?"

Galactica: "In Long Beach. And then I talked to a doctor up in Beverly Hills about him..because...[whoever she's referring to] had work done with this other doctor in Beverly Hills...he said it's not a good idea, Roxy...he called him Dr. Frankenstein, too. But I figured he said that because he's really conservative. And he'll only go so big. He knew how bad I wanted big implants. [She says something about a doctor in Mexico.] THAT took a year, and nothing. So I came back and I thought I'd give this other doctor a try....his dad has done surgery, too. His dad has passed away...this other doctor."

G. Ross: "I'm really losing you...I'm losing where this whole story's going."

Galactica [laughing]: "It's like a maze, huh?"

G. Ross: "I'm confused between the doctor in Long Beach and the doctor in Mexico..."

Galactica: "Okay, I'll really have to go back in the time warp...alright."

G. Ross: "Take me back through the time warp, baby."

Galactica: "A long, long time ago..a couple of years ago..my [whatever she's saying] surgery by this one doctor..he was in Beverly Hills at the time and he moved to Beverly Hills..and he does do porn stars now but he didn't do them then. He's REALLY conservative. I had some surgery by him, not boobs or anything like that. And I really wanted the great big ones. He wouldn't do it. He's like you can't have them anyways because of my body shape and all. I just wanted them on my own. [She says something that sounds like she was off the margarine looking for that.] And so I knew this one doctor. I heard of him because a friend had surgery by him in Long Beach. But it was his dad, actually, that she had this surgery from...I didn't really know him..just his dad. I seen him once and he was kind of snotty and really expensive..3500 bucks for one implant, and I really couldn't afford it. I tried Mexico...I went there and years later I went back to this other doctor and he had moved to Beverly Hills..

G. Ross [groans]

Galactica: "..and he wasn't exactly doing the big ones...YET. And he said, okay, I know how bad you want 'em. I know of a doctor and he gave me the name and he was in Mexico..oh God...we had to go through a lot of interpretations and everything to get translations to this doctor..by the time we did that..I got an appointment...and oh, that's another story..that's a cryptic story how we got down to Mexico..oh my God..but we got there. It took a YEAR..that doctor...they only go up to 800 ccs and to get a 1,000, that's custom-made, and anything higher up, they even go out of the country to get those. And then they go by dimensions, and this doctor didn't know how to do that...[she says something that sounds like you can't stop count Dracula to Ireland] It took them a long, long time...too long..you know what..I'm going to go back to this doctor that I originally..the same doctor but his dad died."

G. Ross: "Let me just narrow this down...cause you running me to doctors back and forth..you got messed up basically in Mexico, then?"

Galactica: "No."

G. Ross: "No??!!"

Galactica: "No..uh, uh. There was no surgery by a boob doctor, there. What he tried to do was get me the implants I wanted. He diligently did try. He didn't do no surgery on me. He said there was other means that we could do but it would be very lengthy, and in a way, I should have done it looking back, but I didn't. I wanted the great big ones."

G. Ross: "So the guy who gave you the great big ones was this doctor in Long Beach."

Galactica: "Yes."

G. Ross: "But you kept going back to this ax murderer..."

Galactica: "Okay..we went initially to have this surgery, right? I already had implants by him. I got [stuck?] by him..no problem. But the problem arose when he put this extender in. That's when the problems started and we had to keep doing them over and over again."

G. Ross: "Was this malpractice on his part?"

Galactica: "The lawyer I went to..yes..it was."

G. Ross: "The guy in Long Beach?"

Galactica: "Yes. He [the lawyer] said there were two problems that arose..one, we wouldn't want to bring it to a jury because they will not sympathize who wanted to get into the adult industry...they have their minds already made up..we go avoid a jury and go straight to the doctor with this...but you could lose, too."

G. Ross: "This is a lawyer telling you this?"

Galactica: "Yes...how long ago was it when you talked to a lawyer."

Galactica: "Actually it was..around the first of the month...my sisters had things they were doing with the lawyer and I went and saw him."

G. Ross: "This was in June? You see, hon, you were already supposed to have been dead. This is what I'm trying to figure out..because back in May the whole story came about that you were found dead."

Galactica: "Yeah, because the thing is, it was weeks prior. Everything was coming unglued...even right after the surgery, it opened and fluid was coming out. It didn't look good. It was really bad to be honest."

G. Ross: "How did this misunderstanding occur that you overdosed or whatever you were supposed to do?"

Galactica: "Because I did."

G. Ross: "You did? You were taken to the hospital?"

Galactica: "No. I went up to my other apartment up in LA and a whole bunch of..and..slit my wrists. I was fed up with it. I was really tired. Fuck it, I didn't care anymore. That's what happened...but Billy found me.."

G. Ross: "Who found you?"

Galactica: "Billy..he's my step-brother."

G. Ross: "He found you then he rushed you to the hospital?"

Galactica: "NOOOO!! I was begging him not to because I had a prior experience when I slit my wrist. It was a long time ago. It was like when I was 13 when I slit my wrist. They were going to try to bring me down to a hospital, to a lock-up unit. But I was...you can't do that..because if you put me in this other room...it was hall across from where they stitched me up, and I could have really done myself in...and I talked to my dad about it at the time, he goes right, we could have a lawsuit on them. So I went to counseling. Here, there was no way out. And I figured I'm not going to be locked up. No way.so..my sisters came down and they had this...stuff, and I'm like buzzing my brains out. I was the Exorcist chick."

G. Ross: "I'm kind of lost, here...cause this is all new to me. Your step-brother found you? He wasn't going to rush you to any hospital.."

Galactica: "Because I was begging him not to. I was crying."

G. Ross: "What happens there? Did he call somebody in? He called your sister?"

Galactica: "Not the one who leaves here 'cause I've got another sister, Debbie, that lives here but the other sister that lives in Glendora."

G. Ross: "And she came over and they basically just attended to you?"

Galactica: "They were trying to help me..the thing is.."

G. Ross: "But you did slash you wrists? What did they do?"

Galactica: "They were screaming at me and everything else?"

G. Ross: "Did they bandage you up?"

Galactica: "They held it and they bandage it up around my wrists..."

G. Ross: "So they saved your life."

Galactica: "Yes, they did."

G. Gross: ""From that thing the story got out that you killed yourself?"

Galactica: "Ah huh..the problem was, I was fed up with it. I was tired, really tired of all of it..and I kept leaving letters all the place and tearing up costumes..I kept it up with my doctor, but nobody would listen to me....

G. Gross: "Did you finally come to terms with your breasts?"

Galactica: "This is what the doctor said to me..."

G. Gross: "You went to a different doctor I hope? You're still going to this guy in Long Beach?? What are you, out of your mind?!"

Galactica [laughs]: "I'm limited...actually I don't have to pay or anything. He was going to charge me on the very last surgery, but he said let's hold off with the new surgery when we get the new implants, and you can start your payment plan again. I thought that was very cool. I went to another doctor..."

G. Ross: "Offhand, how many breast surgeries.."

Galactica: "I've lost count. that's what the lawyer asked."

G. Ross: "But you're still going to the same doctor!!"

Galactica: "Yeah..but you know what I think...two things..this doctor..I don't think he has experience with large implants..."

G. Ross: "I guess not...

Galactica: "Duh...but he's learning quite a bit.."

G. Ross: "He learned on you. That's good. You were his guinea pig."

Galactica: "I think so...he's a hand specialist and not.."

G. Ross: "You've been getting breast operations from a guy who's a hand specialist.."

Galactica: "Yuh.."

G. Ross: "Hon, this is a story that's absolutely incredible."

Galactica: "I don't know what happened but he was really mad at me for going to emergency, and all the doctors tried doing something for three days to try and get a hold of him...my... said I'm going to have the doctors...at...call you...but he never did and I took off at four o'clock to go down to emergency...but they...because they wouldn't release the doctor's name...the second and third night I did..they tried and tried but he had his exchange off....so"

G. Ross: "Now for the time being you're okay?"

Galactica: "It's really wild though. Finally, when he did take it out on a Tuesday..I don't know what he found out. I have no idea..he knows something, but he didn't put me on
