Paradise Visuals Mounts Comeback

Paradise Visuals wants its slice of the DVD pie, and has given Las Vegas-based producer Greg Watkins permission to grab it. Ginger Lynn The Movie kicks off an aggressive slate in the company’s high-profile DVD onslaught, to begin later this year and to eventually yield 65 film releases drawn from the company’s extensive film and video collection.

The production surrounding Ginger Lynn The Movie should set a template for future releases in the line. The DVD will feature 45 minutes of never before seen interviews with Ginger Lynn, Christy Canyon, Ron Jeremy and historian Bill Margold. There will also be a 30-minute bonus scene featuring Brittany Stryker. Like many titles in the Paradise Visuals library, such as future release The Devil in Mr. Holmes, Ginger Lynn The Movie is itself of historical interest. It is best known for its use of surviving, non-Traci Lords footage from the two Lords movies Night of Loving Dangerously and Those Young Girls.

Future releases will be determined in part how the appropriate bonus material and interviews with the stars can be assembled for each project. Currently the company hopes to release three by the time of this year’s AAEE and then approximately one per month or per every other month until the library is exhausted.

“We could release these things a lot faster, but the quality of the extras means we can’t rush these out there,” said Jason Green, who worked on many of the forthcoming DVDs’ interviews. He told AVN.com the company is pleased with the result. “They’re really long interviews and go pretty deeply into what was going on at the time historically and how the interviewees felt about the work on the DVD.”

Producer Watkins also promises that brand-new sequels for select titles are planned, and that it is hoped Christy Canyon and Ginger Lynn will be able to make a few promotional appearances together, perhaps at January’s AVN convention.

The company has promised an exclusive distribution deal for the line to be announced shortly.
