PRISON TOWN MAYOR BUSTED IN SEX STING

Johnny Cash made the town immortal when a film inspired him to write his classic "Folsom Prison Blues" in the 1950s. Now its mayor has resigned following his arrest in a prostitution sting.

Mayor Everett Reginald Drew was arrested Jan. 27 in nearby Sacramento and resigned two days later, according to the Associated Press. Police say he offered cash and rock cocaine to an undercover female officer in exchange for sex, the AP says.

Drew is free on $5,000 bail after his arraignment on five felony and misdemeanor prostitution and drug counts, with prosecutors undecided on whether to charge him formally. Drew would say only that he could not comment "until we're through the judicial process," the AP says.

Drew was first elected to the Folsom City Council in 1996. He is also a manager with the state Prison Industry Authority.
