PORN GANG BREAKUP IN IRAN

An Iranian newspaper says security forces have broken up a gang which distributed pornographic videotapes and discs in the Islamic republic, says Reuters.

Kayhan, an evening daily, says Basij volunteers arrested the four gang members in central Tehran, as well as three others for selling home-brewed liquor. The paper didn't say precisely when the arrests were made, Reuters says, though these and similar arrests are reported in the Iranian media regularly.

Porn and booze have been banned in Iran since the 1979 Islamic revolution, with violators facing lashes, jail, or heavy fines.
