PORN BIOPIC, GAY THEME HIGHLIGHT SUNDANCE PREMIERES

A biopic about two legendary porn filmmakers starring one notorious porn star acquaintance, and a gay-themed film, are expected to highlight premieres at the Sundance Film Festival Jan. 20-30.

Emilio Estevez and his brother, Charlie Sheen - who knows perhaps more than he cares to about porn stars these days - star as the legendary San Francisco porn kings, the Mitchell brothers, in Rated X, which Estevez also directed. Like the David McCumber book on which it is based, Rated X chronicles the rise of the porn-making Mitchell brothers, their journey through the San Francisco porn world, and the dynamic that ended in fratricide.

The film wrapped in August, at a time when co-star Sheen's own troubles with porn stars took a legalistic twist: porn actresses Charlise L'Amour and Teri Starr are suing him over an incident at his home, when they claim Sheen's bodyguard assaulted them despite their having reputed intimate relationships with Sheen.

Sheen has since been ordered by a Los Angeles judge to tell about his actual relationships with the two women.

Meanwhile, The Broken Hearts Club, directed by Greg Barlanti, stars Timothy Olyphant, Matt McGrath, Ben Weber, Zach Braff, and former television Superman Dean (Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman) Cain. It is a gay-themed story about a group of West Hollywood boys confronting their futures; Frasier co-star John Mahoney also appears in the film.
