Over 4,000 Reports, Over 120 Sites Turned Over: ASACP

Adult Sites Against Child Pornography is making even more inroads against child porn: the group received over 4,000 suspect reports in May and reported over 120 actual Websites to the authorities.

“Due to the increasing number of reports and the time it takes to properly process these, ASACP is reviewing its procedures and will implement new software this summer," said executive director Joan Irvine in releasing the May figures. "Therefore, it is even more important for everyone to report suspect child pornography using the form at ASACP."

The group continues to stress that their singular focus is child porn Websites, urging those who stumble upon it to provide the most complete information they can provide about the page or site's URLs, Irvine said. The group does not review bulletin boards (.bbs), newsgroups (alt.binaries), peer-to-peer file swapping networks like Kazaa and Morpheus, instant messaging programs, message boards, or chat room conversations, or Web communities like Yahoo, MSN, America Online, and Lycos.

And while ASACP sympathizes, don't waste their time complaining about other Internet problems against which the adult industry bumps. "ASACP is an organization helping the adult site industry make a difference in the battle against child pornography, not spam or problems with excessive popups," the group said. "Therefore, it cannot respond to non-child pornography issues."

ASACP now boasts over 4,000 adult sites standing officially against child porn by displaying the ASACP logo. For more information or to join the fight that must be fought, visit ASACP on the Web or contact [email protected].
