Oprah, We Hardly Knew Ye!

Oprah, we hardly knew ye! nrnA German magazine the specialty of which is latex fetish claims the talk-show superstar stole their name for her new magazine, O. And they've written to Hearst Communications, which publishes Oprah Winfrey's O, demanding an immediate cease and desist "from any further advertisement, promotion, or marketing of your magazine under the title O or any variation or derivation thereof." nrnThe German magazine's publisher, Ronald Brockmeyer, is claiming trademark infringement and mulling a lawsuit. He said his O has had American and European distribution since 1988, and he also said he would use all legal means to stop Winfrey from further "acts of unfair competition." nrnHearst said only that its own legal department would handle the matter. Brockmeyer, for his part, said he doesn't want money; just the exclusive use of the O name.
