On the Set: Airerose's 'Pure Bush 3'

I cup my hands against the window and peek inside. Streams of power cords run into a room just out of view. Muffled moans and the muted slap of bodies accent the pulse of wind strumming the overgrown grass and palms.

The shoot house stands out on the street. The other mansions are surrounded by landscaped yards that look like putting greens or scenic parks. The yard around this shoot house has a more natural design; it grows wild and unruly, likely violating several neighborhood association regulations. Sections of a fallen tree lie sliced and disassembled. Currents of leaves circle the pool. New growth springs from the bushes surrounding the house.

A Doberman Pinscher bursts through the hedges. In a flash I imagine my death muted by the climax of the sex scene in the house. The Pinscher’s muzzle dives into my crotch and nuzzles the denim. I try to gently push his huge mouth away but he jumps up on me, mounting me in a show of dominance. I suppose being prodded by a furry dog dick is better than being mauled.

The property owner, Mikey, comes around the corner and calls off his dog. He motions me inside, telling me the scene with Tommy Gunn and Keisha Grey just wrapped. Also cast in Pure Bush 3 are Cadence Lux and Gina Valentina.

The house’s foyer is lined with faux tree trunks that spring from the floor and through the ceiling to support a rooftop patio. This indoor forest forms the backdrop for Airerose Entertainment’s Pure Bush 3.

“Hey Chad,” Mikey yells to videographer Chad Diamond. “I found this guy fooling around with my dog in the yard. Said he’s answering your Craigslist ad about butt sex. He seems pretty legit.”

Correcting Mikey, I say I’m actually a professional bush fluffer. I’m here to add a bit of body, texture, style, and intrigue to Abella Danger’s bush—if not in a physical sense then at least in my lush description of it.

While we wait for Abella to arrive, Diamond shows me cellphone photos of recent shoots. He has a photo set from a film titled 1500 Pounds of Flesh. In the scene three obese women covered him in whipped cream and devoured him.

“That middle one is Sweet Cheeks,” he says. “She’s a bad ass. She’s a grandmother and she can do the splits.”

He shows me nudes of a trans woman he wants to work with. Her affected femininity is so flawless that even her dick looks lady-like. Diamond and his wife are stockpiling content for their website, SomethingExtra.com. The site features models with something extra: extra weight, age, dicks—any attribute that lands these models out the range of mainstream performers.

“My wife has fucked more trannies than I have,” Diamond says, grinning, seeming both jealous and proud.
I can’t imagine him finding a more fitting wife, or profession, for exploring his sexual red herrings.

It’s easy to dismiss erotic genres like trans, BBWs, or even pubic hair as weird or even unnatural. However, it’s precisely their divergence that defines them as normal. Humans are unique among other species not only in our ability to adapt to the unknown, but also in our desire to explore it. We thrive on diversity. The adult industry has survived in large part because of its ability to acclimate, to explore new erotic niches and experiment with new revenue streams. Porn fans hunt for novel performers appearing in unique scenes. We crave the strange. Even those of us who grew up devouring images of perfectly waxed Playboy Playmates of the late 1990s are curious about pubic hair.

Abella Danger arrives ready for action. Light makeup accents her natural beauty and a tall cup of coffee fuels her uninhibited demeanor. She sets the coffee down and strips out of her street clothes. Then she runs her fingers through her pubic hair and sniffs her armpits. Recently she switched to an all-natural deodorant. She likes the natural scent, which she describes as a blend between grass and sage.

She slides her muscular legs into stockings that further conceal the fact that she doesn’t shave her faint leg hair. She lacks tattoos, artificial enhancements, and plastic surgery. She is as organic a specimen of femininity as one can find in an industry that traffics in constructing fantasies.

I ask Diamond about the lack of a makeup artist/hairstylist on set.

“We maxed out our budget with A-list girls like Keisha and Abella,” Diamond says. “We hired girls who are hot enough that they don’t need anything extra.”

This understated style complements the aesthetic of the Pure Bush series. Viewers who crave bushes probably also prefer women with minimal makeup to distract from their natural beauty. Of course I can’t help but fantasize about pioneering a career as a “bush fluffer.” I imagine all the ways in which I could style Abella’s bush. I could frost the tips, trim it like a bonsai, shave it into geometrical designs, straighten the hair with a flat iron, braid it into neat cornrows, or create topiary mazes for viewers to get lost exploring.

Abella stands out against a white backdrop that is laid over the room like a painter’s tarp. She pulls her one-piece aside to give Diamond’s camera and unfiltered view. She pets her bush like a lap cat, primping it for the camera. Diamond shoots the scene rapid fire like a wildlife photographer afraid of missing his shot. He does not interfere with Abella. The only instruction he gives is to tell her, “You’re for sure the cover model.”

With these photos done, Diamond stages the impending sex scene. The set does not need to tell a story. It just needs to look natural. He angles a black leather love seat in a corner that harnesses the natural light through the sliding glass door. Then he removes a picture frame in the background that displays the promo photo the frame came with.

Abella’s scene partner, Chad Alva, walks in and sits on the love seat. All he does to prepare for the scene is to untie his shoes so they slip off effortlessly when the action begins. While waiting for Diamond to ready his camera, Abella fills the time and space with movement. She slides and spins across the hardwood floor, flexing her legs and pointing her toes. As if all part of her impromptu ballet, Abella spins and straddles Alva. Diamond grabs his camera and rushes to capture the ensuing action. ...

Near the end of the scene Abella says, “Cum all over my hairy bush,” sinking back into the couch and spreading herself for Alva. Her bush serves as a net. She rubs Alva’s emission into her hair like styling gel. The camera moves in closer like a microscope searching for the mechanisms that drives the allure of her sopping bush.

My gaze also focuses on Abella’s bush in attempt to understand what it is fans of this niche find so appealing about hair. Maybe they like how pubic hair helps trap a woman’s natural scent. Maybe they are attracted to bush the way many men obsess over breasts, as an indicator of sexual maturity. Or maybe they associate bushes with liberated women who aren’t afraid to challenge current cultural trends of femininity and sexuality. Or, perhaps bush fans just like to see a shadow of the wild, unruly animal within us all.
