Sunshine Films has purchased the Odyssey Group Video catalog of some 1500 titles, according to Sunshine’s Joseph Shemesh.
The catalog, which had been tied up in litigation since OGV’s demise in early 2003, was sold at court auction. Sunshine made the winning bid: $257,000.
Sunshine will begin re-releasing OGV titles the first week in June, Shemesh told AVN.com, starting with the amateur titles (such as Amateur Extravaganza, 100% Amateur) that make up the largest part of the catalog. All will be simultaneous VHS and DVD.
Sunshine plans to ship 25 titles per week, including items from OGV’s highly successful gay lines. “We have she-males, bi, everything,” Shemesh said, “but the best titles are the gay, and we hope to continue this.”
One new movie a month on the Odyssey label will go out from Sunshine beginning in July. “If it’s going good, we’ll release more,” said Shemesh. “We just spent $35,000 to make a gay movie.”
The only OGV catalog items not included in the sale are the Rodney Moore titles (including the Crème de la Face and Cumm Brothers lines). These are tied up in separate litigation with Moore himself.
