CHATSWORTH, Calif.—Industry veterans Sandra McCarthy and Darby Castellon officially opened OC Modeling at the beginning of this year, enjoying steady growth that has prompted the recent launch of a Las Vegas office.
The licensed and bonded talent agency (ocmodeling.com) is based in Chatsworth and currently has 34 girls on its roster, with an additional six now based in Vegas.
McCarthy, senior executive partner and operations manager, spent nearly 20 years working in the mainstream film business before transitioning to adult about three years ago. She has been a production manager for Brazzers and worked on several college party productions, among other endeavors.
“We want to set ourselves apart from everybody else, keep it a small boutique and not grow so big that we can’t find enough work for these girls,” McCarthy said. “We get to know these girls on a business and personal level. We love what we do.”
Castellon, the talent director and also a senior partner, began his career as a performer nearly 10 years ago before working for Naughty America for three years. After that a year at LA Direct Models from 2007-08 proved beneficial, he said.
“I learned a lot of about production and then went to LA Direct and learned an enormous amount from [owner] Derek Hay and everybody from the office and incorporated some of that here,” Castellon said.
He said OC Modeling gives girls the option to drop their rate to book a scene in an effort to keep them busy.
“We really care about these girls, not just finding them work,” he said. “If you notice a lot of these girls on our site are brand new, so there is a lot of mentoring involved, keeping them happy and keeping them safe.”
McCarthy said the agency had been about two years in the making as the bonding and licensing process was arduous. They started a Las Vegas division in June because it made sense for them on many fronts.
“We have a few partners in this and one of them is located in Las Vegas,” explained McCarthy, adding that OC also has Vegas-based recruiters. “We thought it was a great idea to give everyone the opportunity to choose girls from Vegas because they are already there. And it saves producers’ money with airfare and hotel because they don’t have to fly girls in.”
OC Modeling is also collaborating with its partners such as OC Cash to give its models an additional web presence. It is currently developing sites for some its top girls such as Ally Haze, Dylan Riley, Kita Zen and Kenna Kane.
“We’ll provide the traffic for them,” Castellon said.
Both partners said that in the competitive agency environment that “personal involvement” with the models is important.
“We like to talk to them on a daily basis,” Castellon said. “... They understand that we work for them, they don’t work for us.”
