Nic Andrews to Work with Digital Playground on a Per-Project Basis

Director Nic Andrews will continue to make movies for Digital Playground on a per project basis, according to DP owners Samantha Lewis and Joone.

Contrary to rumors that he has jumped ship for another adult studio, he is still very much on board at DP. He told AVN.com he is prepping a movie slated to get underway some time this summer. It’s in the script stage now.

“It’s a big movie,” Joone told AVN.com. “There’s a lot of prep on it. We have to plan it out.”

Andrews said the per project free-lance deal would allow him to “concentrate on doing better scripts instead of racing for the finish line. The goal is to reduce the workload on my end. This way they’re not paying me for down time.”

It will also allow him to work at a position in the mainstream world which, he said, “allows me the regular income as well as the flexibility to still make movies.”

“Nic very much nurtures each project,” said Lewis. “He is going to be given the chance to do that. We’re looking forward to the next year with him.”

Andrews has helmed several of DP’s top-line titles over the past two years, most recently Loaded, with Jesse Jane.

He said he’s not yet ready to talk about the new movie, except that “I’m kind of going back to the roots that put me on the map to begin with, to that kind of genre. That’s a hint.”
