Nexus Net Card To Launch In January

A universal Internet access card, Nexus Net Card, will launch in January, its creator announced this month, aiming for a clientele of non-credit card carrying consumers, and saying it would benefit Internet billing processors and e-commerce Webmasters alike by cutting the credit chargeback factor dramatically.

Nexus Net Card "will give them an additional option to offer their customers besides credit cards, electronic checks and telephone billing," said Nexus Net Cards, Inc. chief executive Robert Bowen, announcing the new product.

"Furthermore, there are very few charge backs with the Net Card because it works like cash," Bowen continued. "And, because chargebacks are virtually eliminated, the fees for merchants and webmasters will be lower. Our card is not intended to compete with existing merchant banks or billing services, it is designed to enhance their existing offering to the customer.”

The pre-paid card is described as a universal access debit card letting a user buy good and services online and at select brick-and-mortar retail spots, as well as acting as a telephone card in early 2005.

Bowen also said that privacy and anonymity in online activites should help Nexus Net Card find users, since it needs no name and only a personal identification number to use. “Identity theft is a growing problem in e-commerce costing consumers, merchants, and banks millions each month,” he said. “Our card will help protect consumers from identity theft because there is no personal information for a hacker to steal—only a replaceable PIN number."

Nexus Net Cards will be sold in various retail spots worldwide as well as on the company Website. The company is now negotiating with several billing processors, whom they have not yet identified, to offer Nexus Net Cards as an additional option, as well as launching agreements with merchants to accept the card for point-of-sale buying.
