Prepaid card system iLovePrepaid, “offering safe, secure, and legitimately anonymous pay methods for adult Web surfers,” has launched from Cyber2000.
"We work a lot with the international markets," Cyber2000 international marketing director Cathedra told AVN.com, explaining what provoked the idea for the cards. "There are a lot of restrictions and regulations, especially in the Spanish and German markets. People that access sites have credit cards, so we were trying to find an alternative to the dialers. We based our model on prepaid phone cards and went from there."
Available in 12 languages, the cards have a variety of themes, including toon, hard, gay, and more. Beginning the launch by introducing the card during Internext earlier this month, Cyber2000 wants iLovePrepaid to reach previously unreachable customers who formerly feared compromise of their anonymity and even identity theft and might feel more comfortable if they could have a method of online access with direct offline payment.
"I wouldn't say (identity theft fears) had any actual impact on it, but it definitely does help our product, as opposed to payment systems such as dialers which tout themselves as 100 percent anonymous but really aren't," she said. "With iLovePrepaid, it really is secure and it really is anonymous. Whether a question of identity or of security, the user is really protected. There's no way to trace them."
The only serious problem the company had getting the card going, Cathedra said, was setting up its distribution network.
"We're quite fortunate we have our own programming department so we could build our own back-end and customise it to the needs we found in the industry," she said. "It's going very well so far."
The iLovePrepaid card for now will be sold in adult bookstores, video stores, and other adult stores, but Cyber2000 wants to bring the card in the future to some convenience stores. "But that's more for the second phase," Cathedra said. "We're trying to aim toward wherever the customer base is already targeted. We'd like to also venture into the mainstream market, for it to be really seen as a new payment system allowing anyone to go to any convenience store, gas station, or adult store. It's a completely secure pay system anywhere."
