New Strip Clubs Open in Philadelphia

In less than a month, the city has seen the opening of two new strip clubs, the Philadelphia Inquirer reported.

Scores, the New York-based operator of strip clubs, recently opened Scores Philadelphia on the site of the Bash Nightclub, 450 N. Sixth St. Scores already operates clubs in Miami, Fort Lauderdale, Chicago, Baltimore, Las Vegas, Lake Geneva, Wisc.; and two New York City locations.

Crazy Horse Too has also opened in South Philadelphia, marking a second location for owner Rick Rizzolo who operates the original Crazy Horse Too in Las Vegas.

Last month’s opening came after strong opposition from local politicians who railed against the club’s management and Rizzolo in particular. He is under investigation for alleged racketeering and tax evasion, according to the Las Vegas Sun.

Rizzolo has denied any wrongdoing.

In January 2005, the Las Vegas’ club manager was indicted on racketeering and tax charges. The indictment alleged that club employees extorted money from customers.

State senators Vincent Fumo and Bill Keller have said they oppose the club, citing the number of other strip clubs already operating in the city.

With about 12,000 square feet of bar areas, the club is said to match its Las Vegas counterpart in size. According to the Sun, that club is staffed 1,500 people and makes about $1 million per month.
