According to a March 24 press release, New Frontier Media, Inc., a leader in the electronic distribution of adult entertainment, announced that it has signed a multi-year agreement with Time Warner Cable to provide content for its video-on-demand services.
Under the terms of the agreement, New Frontier will provide up to 30 titles a month, sixty percent of which will be premiere titles, delivered in a video-on-demand format from a prepped digital library of tapes. Initial markets covered by the agreement will include Honolulu; Austin, Texas; and Tampa/St. Petersburg in Florida.
Colorado-based New Frontier Media is the company that acquired iGallery last year, in a transaction that was valued at $31 million. At that time, New Frontier Chairman and CEO Mark Kreloff explained," The iGallery Companies provide substantial Internet distribution and marketing opportunities for New Frontier Media. The companies have significant expertise in Internet traffic management, pointing over 23 million visitors per month to their sites."
About the current deal, New Frontier Media's Senior VP of Sales and Marketing, Ken Boenish, said, "We're extremely pleased to be included in Time Warner's video-on-demand effort. On the heels of our recently signed contract (a multi-year corporate carriage agreement for Pleasure ™), this deal underscores Time Warner's confidence in our technical expertise and the high performance of our quality programming."
According to the March press release, "VOD [video-on-demand] enables digital cable consumers to receive entertainment through their set-top boxes and provides virtual VCR functionality, including the ability to pause, fast-forward and rewind programming." It further states that "New Frontier Media will be working with Time Warner to develop other distribution technologies that they hope will optimize the distribution and program rotation of VOD content, ultimately enhancing the viewing experience of the consumer and maximizing the revenue derived from the adult entertainment category."
