No nude nutballs on this world champion netball team: Australia's champs have no intention of taking a page from the Australian women's soccer team, who took it off for a best-selling calendar last year.
Netball captain Kathryn Harby told Australian reporters Thursday the team wasn't exactly thrilled when they were asked to bare all for another calendar to be done by the same firm, Prime Publishing Australia, which did the soccer nudes.
In fact, Harby and Netball Australia's executive director told the calendar producers the only way the netballers would pose was clothed. But Harby also said one of the netballers agreed to a nude shoot, causing a kind of domino effect.
"The next girl went in there under a considerable amount of pressure to take her clothes off," she told Australian Radio. "So she did that and, as a result, a number of players have had their photos taken with their clothes off. I guess the people producing the calendar obviously had a different style in mind than the one that was discussed when we decided to go ahead."
Prime Publishing said no pressure was involved and only semi-nude, "very... conservative" shots were done. But the company also said they planned to re-shoot the calendar.
