NY Video Voyeur Victim: There Oughta Be A Law!

A Long Island woman whose landlord videocammed her secretly wants New York state lawmakers to make video voyeurism a felony - and blasted the state Assembly's Democratic majority for not moving faster to pass a bill to that effect.

"How many more young women in New York State will have to suffer from visual rape before you pass this common-sense legislation?" wrote the victim, Stephanie Fuller, in an angry letter to Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver, adding she planned a March 19 trip to Albany to talk it over with Silver in person.

Fuller's landlord, William Schultz, got charged with only a misdemeanor and sentenced with what the New York Post called a slap on the wrist - probation, community service, and restitution - for videotaping Fuller in her apartment secretly.

Aides to New York Gov. George Pataki met for the first time with leaders of both legislature houses to discuss the issue, which Assembly officials had pressed on the state Senate for a deal on the issue, the Post said.
