NEW SITE OFFERS CONTENT TRACKING

If you run an adult Web site, you have to keep fast pace complying with Federal laws overseeing distributing and administering adult-oriented images. And a start-up company here says it has a breakthrough suite using patent-pending technology to give Webmasters and content providers alike "the only truly effective" way of branding and tracking content to stop theft and prosecute misuse.

BayTSP actually took the wraps off its 2257 suite at last month's ia2000 convention in Miami Beach, and company spokesman David English was more than enthusiastic about it.

"It's not just a compliance thing," English said at the convention. "We're talking about intellectual piracy. And everyone is kind of shuffling to stop it where they can because it's going to hurt more now than before. Our program is probably the best and only one around now which can make it easier for you to do it."

The application suite gives Webmasters entry to a data base of content which was pre-screened by BayTSP for legal compliance. "This eliminates the hassle of maintaining 2257 compliance documentation and, most important, avoiding heavy fines and long incarceration," English says.

Named for the same-numbered section of Federal law which governs adult image distribution and administration, the 2257 suite surfs the Net and identifies Web sites using BayTSP.com clients' content, then gives providers and Webmasters "the weapon they have do desperately needed to take the offensive and fight back against thieves of graphic, video, audio, and text files of all types and sizes," English says.

"Once an infringer is identified, BayTSP automatically notifies the customer," he says. "At the customer's option, a notice of infringement is automatically sent via e-mail to the infringer site or the customer's designated legal counsel is automatically notified via e-mail of suspected infringement."

2257Spider then tracks down illegally taken and posted files branded by the 2257Brand application, and those files are removed while perpetrators are prosecuted.

"We think we're at the opening of something very significant for protecting intellectual piracy," English said at the convention. "Because it hurts everyone, not just the adult business. And we can take the lead in protecting intellectual property with something like this, and that can only help us in the long run with everyone in general."

The 2257 application suite does more, though. Its 2257Access application can stop a Web site from going completely dark in areas where adult images are blocked. The program gives a site operator the option of deciding what among their content is blocked from a region of the United States by zip code, English says, giving BayTSP clients "access to a huge number of potential customers heretofore unreachable, as…only particular files (such as an image) remain dark - and everything 'appropriate'…can be served."
