NEW ADULT BIZ LIMITS IN NY TOWN

Another week, another new local law banishing adult entertainment and other adult businesses to industrial areas, this time approved by the town board in Guilderland - which happens to have no adult businesses in town.

This ordinance keeps them from setting up shop within a thousand feet of residential, church, and school areas, and at least five hundred feet from each other.

What prompted the move? A crackdown on strip clubs in nearby Colonie and Schenectady got Guilderland thinking about a potential influx of unwanted merchants relocating here. Guilderland isn't banning adult entertainment outright, but one of two industrial areas in town, the Northeast Industrial Park, is said to have no interest in leasing space to such businesses.
