CHATSWORTH, Calif. — Performer Mr. Pete has ended the exclusive directing contract he held with Red Light District since 2006.
According to both parties, the relationship ended on very good terms, and simply out of differing creative directions.
"They've changed some things in production, and while they were doing that, I took a month or two off," Pete told AVN. "I talked to Michael Stefano, who's the head of production, and we're friends, so he said, 'Take a few months off, clear your head,' and pretty much, things were going to stay the same, and I was kind of on strike and didn't want to go back to work, so we agreed to part ways."
Pete said he holds the company and its owners in the highest regard, and hopes to continue working with them as a performer.
"I have nothing but respect for those dudes," he said. "They didn't do anything shady or seedy, they're good guys to me, I'm friends with the owner and the head of production, but we just had to part ways [because] we had creative differences."
Red Light owner David Joseph agreed: "Mr. Pete is a really good friend of mine, he's a great guy. It's nothing personal. He's a great director ... sometimes things don't work out. But he's great at what he does, and it was a mutual agreement, and that's really it. I wish him the best, and I'll always be there for him if he ever needs anything, and he knows that."
Pete has no immediate plans for continuing to direct, but said he's looking. "I have some meetings, but I have no idea what's going to be next on my plate," he said.
