Monarch Models is set to make its mark as an adult talent agency under the guidance of its new talent manager, 20-year-old Maria Menendez.
Monarch, she told AVN.com, has been up and running for five months. “I’ve been running it for a month-and-a-half,” she said. “I was a recruiter before—an assistant agent. I feel really lucky to get promoted; it’s my dream job. I know what I’m doing and I love what I’m doing.”
Menendez made news a couple of weeks ago when she won a contest sponsored by VCA Pictures and WantedList.com. The grand prize was a night at the Kit Kat Ranch in Carson City, Nevada, over Labor Day weekend. AVN.com covered the event.
Previously a video buyer for Hustler Hollywood in San Diego, Menendez was steered toward Monarch by an acquaintance from the adult industry.
The agency, Menendez said, is owned by a larger firm and was run by two women before she came on board. “We’re starting fresh,” she said, “and I think we’re going to be a good company.”
Of the ten girls on Monarch’s roster, the biggest name is Jenna St. James, an African-American beauty who used to be a West Coast Productions contract girl under the name Heather St. Clair.
“She’s coming to town October 1,” Menendez said. “She was back home in Chicago and she missed the industry. We’re eagerly awaiting her arrival. I think we’ll be able to do great things for that girl.”
Two new names are Nicky Nicole and Celestia Star. Menendez said she is looking for “new girls who are interested in being professional and beautiful and respected. I have huge respect for the women in this industry. It’s feminism at its core—a girl using everything she’s got to get ahead.”
