“I loved this year’s AEE and AVN Awards, especially because Anikka was hosting it,” he said. “I am super proud of her; she did such a great job!”
But watching his wife host with Joanna Angel and comedienne Kate Quigley wasn’t the only highlight of his evening Saturday at The Joint inside the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino. He was first called up on stage with Riley Reid—who has her own stellar night at the ceremony—for Best Anal Scene.
“This year I was feeling jittery with anticipation because it was a big show for Anikka, who was hosting it,” Blue said. “This was the main thing in my head and I wasn't really thinking about winning awards. Then the category Best Anal Scene came up and Riley Reid's anal scene got called up as the winner and it brought me back to reality.
“Wow, it was so amazing to share this win with Anikka's and my great friend!” he continued. “Riley was amazing as always in that scene and it was a huge honor to be the first who was chosen to do an anal scene with her.”
But the veteran performer wasn’t back in his front-row seat long before he was called to the stage again, this time as Male Performer of the Year, an award he took home at the 2015 AVN Awards as well.
“I knew that this year the competition was very tough with a lot of great performers who also had great chances of winning,” he said. “I hoped that maybe the luck would be on my side again.”
Once the envelope was opened, and his name was announced, Blue said it took a quick second for it to sink in.
“At first I couldn't believe that my name was just called and then it hit me and I knew it was real,” he said. “It seemed like a long walk on stage, and at first I didn't know what to say. Just wow! As I started my speech, something unexpected and wonderful happened: My wife Anikka ran up on stage and hugged me from behind and kissed me. I felt extremely blessed that I could share this moment with her on stage because she is and will always be my biggest supporter.”
Blue said he feels blessed and is grateful to be one of the few to repeat as back-to-back Performer of the Year winners.
“It makes me feel that the companies, directors and talent I work with put their faith in me to be reliable and give them a great scene,” Blue said. “Also, all my fans over the past few years have been super amazing and supportive in everything I did, that it pushed me even further.
“Once again I want to say thank you to all of you,” he continued. ”As a performer, you can only shine if you have the support and the teamwork of everyone out there, starting from every single talent you work with to the directors, producers, fans and even all the reviewers. And I especially want to thank my wife Anikka who is and always will be my biggest supporter. Teamwork is everything.”
