Metro Signs Promotion Deal With Be the Mask Series

As part of a distribution deal with producer and director Hank Spain, adult entertainment giant Metro Interactive has announced a special promotion built around the popular “Be the Mask” series — a movie series in which masked contest winners have sex with adult entertainment stars.

Fans signing up at the Metro Booth at the AVN trade show will have a chance to “Be the Mask” with a Metro contract star. Contest winners are flown to Metro’s California studios for the opportunity to cash in on their good fortune.

The concept has proven highly popular, having received coverage in Great Britain’s Maxim UK and Fox magazines, and it appears the idea has “legs.” The producers recently signed with the TVX television network to film a once-a-month winner for the concept.

“I think this is a great opportunity for the man in the street to perform in or direct a scene where they can come in contact with the adult-industry girl of their dreams,” offered Metro Studios public relations director Janie Liszewski. “We’ll be amping up the coverage and giving more and more consumers the chance to Be the Mask. We’re anxious to showcase this at the Adult Entertainment Expo in January in Las Vegas,” she added.

Be the Mask shoots will come in addition to Metro’s already busy production schedule, which includes three films a month over two years, a forthcoming print magazine called Cloud 9, and a number of other projects still in the planning stages. “We went from a Mom and Pop operation to having to shoot 10 days a month,” said Spain.

Be the Mask has proven to be a beneficial promotion, Spain noted, primarily because the idea is fundamentally sound. “The concept is one of those things that everybody can get behind and market and gain something from. Everybody that hears about the idea loves it.

“I think the appeal is that most people are frightened to be on camera. Once you put the mask on, it gives you a way to hide yourself from anyone who might know you. It gives you the freedom to perform,” Spain contended. However, Spain admitted that despite the use of a mask, “at least half the people who put the mask on have a real hard time performing.”

For now, the surge in business has left the fashion photographer rolling with the punches. “They’re asking for more. They want us to produce more titles,” Spain said. “But I’m tired. I haven’t had a day off in I don’t know how long,” Spain concluded with a laugh.
