SAN FRANCISCO—Candida Royalle, the feminist erotic filmmaker, '70s porn star, artist, singer with the Cockettes, sex toy innovator and, to many, beloved friend & sister will be remembered at a memorial which will take place on Sunday, October 25, 2015, beginning at 5:30 p.m., with a memorial service beginning at 6:00 and an "afterglow and potluck" taking place at 7:30.
The event is open to everyone and anyone who wants to come remember and/or pay homage to Candida Royalle; relatives, old and new friends, fans, colleagues, admirers, lovers, people who have been inspired by Candida’s work and anyone reading this invitation.
"Please bring memories, stories, show & tell items, photos, altar items, a potluck dish to share and something to drink," requested the memorial coordinator Annie Sprinkle.
The memorial and potluck will be held at the Center for Sex & Culture, 1349 Mission Street (between 9th and 10th Streets), San Francisco, CA. Sprinkle will host the event, together with Royalle's fellow Club 90 members Veronica Hart and Veronica Vera, as well as other friends and family.
For those who would like more information about Royalle's passing, AVN wrote about her life here and here, and The New York Times published both an obituary and a remembrance by sex-positive writer Lily Burana, who described Royalle as "the Grace Kelly of porn."
For those on the East Coast, where Royalle spent her last days, another memorial is being planned to take place in Manhattan on Sunday, November 22. Veronica Vera will send information on that event in the near future.
