Mary Carey Makes Finals in Game Show Parody of Election; Media Blitz Continues

Kick Ass Pictures’ contract performer Mary Carey became a finalist in a surprise coup, placing third in a field of six on Who Wants To Be Governor? The Debating Game that was taped last earlier this month, but aired last night. And yesterday afternoon, former gubernatorial candidate of both the recall and the last real election Bill Simon suggested at a luncheon held by political magazine The Week, that he wouldn't mind withdrawing his support of the Terminator to endorse Carey.

All right, Simon was really joking. But Carey’s fellow finalists on the Gameshow Network’s Who Wants To Be Governor?  , Nathan Walton (son of NBA great Bill Walton, currently in college) and Bryan Quinn (the brainy college kid), weren’t joking when they expressed dismay that Carey made it into the final round.

“The college kids were like ‘Fuck!’ when I got in to the finals. Because they think that I’ll probably win the vote because, well, because I’ve got big breasts,” Carey told AVN.com. The final round of the Who Wants To Be Governor?  is an online vote, with the winner receiving $21,200, the maximum allowable corporate campaign contribution under California state law.

The other contestants were: former child star/ current freak of society Gary Coleman, performance artist Trek Thunder Kelly, the curmudgeonly senior citizen Carl Mehr; the geeky yet likeable Bryan Quinn and Nate Walton. All real gubernatorial candidates, albeit candidates without a chance of winning the real election.

Carey started the game show, hosted by Kennedy who was once voted the most unpopular VJ on MTV, poorly. She was unable to name the four major league baseball teams that play in California (Padres, Dodgers, Giants and Angels) in the question and answer round.

The second round called for candidates to address a political issue facing the state of California. Carey spun a Wheel of Fortune style wheel that landed on “Gay Marriages.”

Fortunately for the star of Club Carrie, that’s one of her existing platforms. Her plan is to make them legal, with hopes that it will bring tourist revenue into the state from homosexuals seeking to be married.

The two female judges who rated each contestants platform, weren’t that pleased – Carey finished that round second to last. Walton and Quinn, the two highest ranked contestants at the end of this round, were automatically qualified for the final voting round.

The rest of the candidates, including Carey, were then placed in the sudden death round. The lowest ranked player was paired with the player who ranked above them. They were asked a question about other candidates not on the show, and were required to buzz in ala Jeopardy - the first person to buzz in with the right answer moved on to challenge to next contestant.

As the second to last candidate, Carey was required to face-off with Carl Mehr for the very first question in the sudden death round. To get into the finals she would be required to survive three rounds to place in the finals.

Carey was working on her forty-five second speech, the time allotted for those who didn’t make the finals to make one last pitch for their candidacy.

“I was thinking ‘I’m not going to get in.’ I figured that it’s no way that I’ll make it. I was doing so bad in the beginning that I had pretty much resigned myself to not getting into the finals,” Carey said.

Then the first question was about Larry Flynt.

“That was funny. That led to me saying I was actually in Hustler. Kennedy said she was in too. I said “I’m actually peeing in Hustler.’ Kennedy said ‘I’m actually being on in Hustler’. The she said she was just joking. I said, ‘I’m not!’”

That warmed Carey up and she then defeated each candidate in turn to make it to the finals. Now, it’s up to the voters in an online election held at the Gameshow Network’s Website.

Viewers won't know who actually won the "debate" until the 8 p.m. victory party next Tuesday, the same time polls close in the real election.

But the media blitz doesn’t end there.

Yesterday she wowed them at a luncheon for political magazine The Week, with former gubernatorial candidate Bill Simon wondering if it was to late to withdraw his endorsement of Arnold Schwarzenegger and shift his support to her,

Then last night was on MSNBC. Followed this morning by an appearance on CNN. Page 6 of the NY Post. Earlier this week she was on both the front page of Yahoo.com and AOL.com. For the moment –she’s the most famous porn star in the country.

And Friday, she’ll be appearing in a live adult video chat, at Videosecret’s Flirt4Free.

“Consider it a preview of what I’ll do if I do get into the governor’s mansion,” Carey giggled, referring to her platform of placing Webcams in the Governor’s mansion to raise money for the state.

Who Wants To Be Governor? The Debating Game will rerun on the Gameshow Network ten more times before election day, October 7, including episodes at 4 and 10 p.m. tonight and 11 p.m. tomorrow.
