SANTA MONICA, Calif. - Mantra Films is bringing the 'Girls Gone Wild' franchise to high definition video with the release of Girls Gone Wild Sexiest Moments 2 on HD DVD and Blu-ray disc.
"This is our first foray into high def and into Blu-ray," said Mantra sales VP Tom Schon. "We have been filming in HD for two years, but until now we have down-converted to standard DVD because we felt the marketplace wasn’t there yet to absorb the cost of authoring and replication. It has been predicted that Christmas 2007 is going to be the defining factor in the battle between formats and the adoption of HD in general, so we've decided to start releasing in all three formats."
Girls Gone Wild Sexiest Moments 2 offers highlights from recent footage captured in "the hottest beaches, bars, and college dorm rooms."
"It’s a compilation, but we do such a volume that when we say 'best of,' it’s not over the years; it’s the best of the last 90 days," Schon said. "It’s a little bit of an adaptation to high def; faster-moving, more variety, quicker cuts, so that you can get as many beautiful girls into 55 minutes as possible."
Mantra releases over 80 'Girls Gone Wild' videos annually. The company self-distributes the product for general release, while IVD serves as the exclusive 'Girls Gone Wild' distributor for the adult market.
Pre-order date for the hi-def discs is Nov. 13 with a street date set for Dec. 11.
