Mansion Productions Acquires MPA3.com

Mansion Productions, developers of the MPA3 affiliate program software, announced the acquisition of the domain name MPA3.com.

Although Mansion CEO Oystein Wright declined to name the exact price the company paid, AVNOnline.com confirmed that it was between $10,000 and $40,000.

“It took us almost two years to get to this point. There was a guy in Europe who owned the domain and he didn’t want to part with it. After heavy negotiations, we finally got it,” Wright told AVNOnline.com.

“It took a lot of persuasion and quite a lot of money for him to part with it.”

Since the previous version of the MPA3 software was tagged MPA2, one might wonder why pay so much for a domain when the product has a limited lifecycle. However, Wright feels the name MPA3 is a strong enough brand that it would be foolish to re-label the product. Therefore, the next version will likely be MPA3 Version 2.0.

“MPA3 has already become a good brand. I think the similarity to mp3 just gives it a certain ring. So it wouldn’t make any sense to change it,” he said.
