MUSKEGON, Mich.—It's always interesting to see what stories involving porn or the porn industry makes nationwide headlines. And now, the dubious story of Earlie Johnson, who allegedly had his entire porn collection stolen, has made the national news and gone viral in a big way.
Johnson's claimed to USA Today that he "had a collection of every African-American that's been in porn from the '70s up until now," when his home was burglarized. Thieves allegedly stole Johnson's TVs and his beloved porn collection.
In this video clip, Johnson points to a drawer where he said he kept his porn archives that featured every black porn star from porn's Golden Age until now. … Wait, a single, small drawer housed such porn history, that if true, would take tens of thousands of DVDs to hold?! Something sounds a little fishy about Johnson's claims.
How did Johnson know his collection was so valuable? Well, some dude in Connecticut, no doubt an expert in such matters, told him.
"My collection was the best in Michigan—a guy in Connecticut told me that," Johnson said. "[The burglars] came upon that and looked at the titles and realized what they had ran across, and realized people would pay cash money for them DVDs. What made it valuable was the footage on those CDs you can't get anymore. Not on the internet or nothin'."
If this whole story sounds like a plea to help Johnson re-stock his shelves with the finest African-American porn in all the land, you'll be happy to know that Monarchy Distribution has stepped up to the plate and offered Johnson one copy of every title it's ever released.
That number, which has just surpassed the 200th title would put the donation at about the $5,000 mark. In addition, Monarchy also will include two free passes to the AVN Adult Entertainment Expo next year.
"We were extremely saddened to hear about Earlie's misfortune," Monarchy owner Mike Kulich said. "Our fans and customers are the people who keep us in business. DVD is tough nowadays because of the internet and tube sites, and people like Earlie are few and far between. We felt it was our civic responsibility to offer to help him replenish his collection."
What a nice heartwarming story. No one should be robbed of their prized porn collections. Good on you, Monarchy Distribution.
