He keeps proving himself to possess as much mettle in the acting department — doing so throughout 2006 in such demanding features as Vivid's To Die For and Adam & Eve's O: The Power of Submission — as he does in that of woodsmanship, and for such bravura at both, Tommy Gunn was awarded handsomely at the 2007 AVN Awards, walking away with the trophy for Male Performer of the Year.
"I hate to be cliché," Gunn told AVN.com when we located him some time later, "but it's surreal. It still hasn't sunk in. But it's amazing, and I thank everybody for an opportunity to be in this business."
Crediting the men who paved the way before him in his acceptance speech, Gunn elaborated to us, "I look at it like my duty to carry the baton as far as the male performer in the industry. It's a big pair of shoes to fill, I think."
Given how fewer good male performers there are than female ones in porndom, the man has a solid point. And having now buttressed his Best Male Newcomer win in 2005 with this one, it's safe to say he's officially on top of the talent heap.
