MONTANA UPDATE: BUTTS, OTHERS OFF QUARANTINE

Tony Montana \nSHERMAN OAKS - Seymore Butts and other stars are out of the quarantine picture while others are still waiting for their test results, in the wake of the news that veteran adult star Tony Montana had tested positive for HIV.

Butts had been considered a second-generation performer on a list submitted by the Adult Industry Medical HealthCare Foundation (AIM), but he was taken off the list when it was learned he'd been behind, not in front, of the camera, during a scene involving Montana and Jade Marcella, Tice Bune, and Sabrina Johnson - who is on the quarantine list pending her test results, which were rushed to Belgium.

AIM spokeswoman Sharon Mitchell said Butts' name should never have been on that list, and she takes full responsibility.

"A classic piece of misinformation," she says. "Seymore Butts wasn't even in the scene. But Jade Marcella is added as of today because the scene was Jade, Sabrina Johnson and Tice Bune [shot 9/18]. Seymore was the cameraman.

"But here I went and made a list because I was working on some information that people gave me. And Seymore doesn't come here. I didn't have records to go by. I know it may not seem ethical, but it's easier for me to make a public apology than to have someone spread HIV. It was a judgment call I made."

Johnson's producer, Danny Carelli, says her scene involved oral sex only and was not considered likely to have put her at HIV risk. Ironically, Johnson had been in Miami Beach and Atlantic City last week promoting her forthcoming live Internet performance, Gang Bang 2000, at ia2000 and the East Coast Video Show, scheduled for New Year's Eve.

Aurora, who also worked with Montana in September, remains on quarantine, according to AIM spokeswoman Sharon Mitchell. "She's not supposed to be tested until October 15th, but for piece of mind, I tested her right away. The preliminary came back negative on Saturday. But she's on quarantine until the 15th.

Obsession, though, is now off the list. "I had the lab run special tests on Saturday," Mitchell says. Which means another star, Dee, is also cleared, having been listed as a second-generation exposure to Obsession.

Aurora's second generation exposures listed Ron Jeremy, Guy DiSilva, The Bogus Brothers, Kyle Phillips and Sean Michaels - but Jeremy has been cleared, Mitchell says. "Ron worked with Aurora on Sept. 9th. She was exposed on Sept. 16th, so that clears him out."

Mitchell also said DiSilva tested negative Saturday. The Bogus Brothers, likewise, have cleared off. Kyle Phillips also cleared off Saturday. Michaels, who was at the ECVS show, was scheduled to come into AIM Monday.

Johnson's second-generation partners' list had included Mark Davis, Dick Nasty, Amanda Rae, Tice Bune, J.J. Michaels, Alex Sanders, John Strong, Brandon Iron and Seymore Butts. Davis, according to Mitchell, cleared Saturday as did Dick Nasty. Amanda Rae cleared Friday; J.J. Michaels was given a bill of health Saturday.

Tice Bune tested Monday, according to Mitchell, and his results will be in Wednesday. "Alex Sanders is probably okay, but he hasn't called in yet to let me know," Mitchell says. "He should be testing Tuesday. He goes to his own private doctor, but he's always with the program. We love him for that. I'm sure we can count on him for looking after himself."

Strong was tested last week as a precautionary measure. Though his preliminary came back negative, Strong will be on quarantine until October 20. Brandon Iron is holding out till his window period of October 20, Mitchell says.

She says many people were helpful in getting the list of names cleared. And she credits Montana, who will talk when he's ready, for taking it like a trouper despite hurtful comments - and for not hiding.

"But you remember what they did to our friend Mark?" says Mitchell. "They're all speculating about how he got it. Who the fuck cares? The man came in with pride and honor. He brought me his lists. He helped me track people down. He sat here all day, spoke with people. He never hid, never ran. He's been checking in every day. Human nature sucks sometimes."
