'LA Weekly' Covers Smash's '50 Shades' Parody

CHATSWORTH, Calif.—Smash Pictures' upcoming parody of the E.L. James Fifty Shades trilogy has gotten the attention of AfterDarkLA.com, LA Weekly's online sex blog.

Smash Pictures vice president Stuart Wall spoke to AfterDarkLA.com about the studio's 50 Shades: A XXX Adaptation.

"This year we started branching off into the romance line of adult shoots," Wall said. "Porn seems to have changed and I get more fan mail from women than men these days. Since they are going to make a mainstream [film] of the books, too, dabbling in the adult world we're choosing to go with a XXX adaption which will stay very true to the book and its S&M-themed romance."

Wall told LA Weekly that the cast is currently reading the books and that the buzz surrounding the movie is set to make it the company's biggest endeavor ever.

"Just from our Twitter and the few news stories so far, the response seems to show that this just might be our biggest film to date," Wall said.

50 Shades: A XXX Adaptation is slated for a September release. The title stars Allie Haze and Ryan Driller as Anastasia Steele and Christian Grey, respectively, Julia Ann as Christian's one-time sex teacher and Alexis Ford as Steele's best friend.
