Kurt Lockwood to Cover AVN Awards for Mixte Magazine

Newly minted Mixte magazine columnist and AVN Award winner Kurt Lockwood will cover January’s AVN Awards for the Paris-based fashion and culture magazine.

This will be the Adult performer’s third feature for the bi-monthly magazine. His second, “La vie de chateau,” will appear in the November issue. Lockwood, who won the 2004 AVN Award for Best Couples Sex Scene – Film, will have special access in his role as journalist at the 2005 awards.

Lockwood’s new gig as a writer is something that sprung out of the popularity of his Web site, KurtLockwood.com, when a Mixte editor who had been reading his online journal contacted him to see if he’d be willing to pen a column.

“The journal is one of the functions my webmaster gave me. I said, ‘oh yeah, this will be fun’ and posted a couple of pictures and it grew out of that,” Lockwood told AVN.com. “Now I get thousands of hits and press from all over the world and email from all over the world.”

Which, if you ask Lockwood, who holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Maryland, is quite an unexpected surprise.

“My only hope for (the Web site) was just to get me more work,” he said. “All of this extra stuff has been a pleasant surprise.”

Lockwood’s Mixte column is an eclectic mix of elements, taking his industry perspective and adding in Hollywood and music. His affinity for music stems from the time he spent as a guitarist touring with Dee Dee Ramone.

His November column details a castle in the Hollywood Hills that has been home to various rock bands over the years and its history.

“It’s a little piece on how it all ties in with the whole Hollywood experience,” Lockwood said.
