Korean-language adult Websites operating overseas - mostly from the United States, Germany, Russia, and Hong Kong - have have risen so sharply the South Korean government has begun a crackdown on those sites.
The Chosun Ilbo, said April 28 that at least 202 such Websites were reaching Korea as of last August, compared to "less than six" just seven months earlier - and the Ministry of Information and Communication is expanding its list of banned foreign Websites to 190 more adult sites from the original list of fifty.
But the major problem the Korean government has with controlling these foreign-hosted sites, Chosun Ilbo said, is investigative jurisdiction, a problem Korean police and prosecutors ran into when trying their own recent crackdown on the sites.
