Kevin Smith to Make Porno Comedy

LOS ANGELES - Mainstream director Kevin Smith has signed a deal with Harvey Weinstein and production giant Miramax to make a comedy about two friends who start up an amateur porn studio to make ends meet.

According to a recent report, Smith has sold his next script and project by writing six words on a piece of paper and handing it to Weinstein. The six words, Zack and Miri Make a Porno, are the title of his next project.

According to the Los Angeles Times story, Weinstein read those words and immediately shelled out a 15 million dollar budget for Smith's prospective project.

"A bawdy sex comedy with heart," Smith described the film to the L.A. Times.

The two friends in Zack and Miri Make a Porno have reached their 30s without any major accomplishments. However, a 15-year high school reunion and rising financial problems, causes the pair to create their own amateur porn enterprise.

Smith is the director of several popular films, including Clerks, Dogma, Mallrats and Chasing Amy.
