Judge Dismisses Grand Jury Indictment Against Lion's Den Store

A criminal charge of promoting obscenity has been dismissed against the Lion’s Den Adult Superstore near Abilene, the Salina Journal reported Tuesday.

The newspaper said that a judge ruled that the petition calling for the grand jury that indicted the store was not in compliance with state law, because others later added information that showed the voting place information of signers.

“The provision requiring the signers to show their precinct and ward is mandatory in the judgment of the court; and accordingly, the indictment of the defendant by the grand jury was invalid,” Kansas Senior Judge Ronald Innes told the publication.

The decision was filed Tuesday with the clerk of the district court in Dickinson County, according to the report.
