In less than a year after he began shooting gonzo videos, Jonni Darkko caught the eye of John Stagliano, owner of Evil Angel, who also happens to be the man often credited with originating gonzo. Stagliano liked what he saw and signed Darkko to direct for Evil Angel.
“Darkko combines exceptional technical skill with a good sense for how to get the best performances out of people,” Stagliano said. “Darkko is maybe the best cameraman I’ve ever seen in porn. He really understands how to use natural light, composition, pacing, and the best camera angles to capture great sex.”
Darkko, who worked for years in adult as a stills photographer, began his adult video directing career last year with New Sensations/Digital Sin, turning out titles such as Anal Trainer and Girl Crazy, both of which showcased Darkko's undying love for backdoor sex.
Says Darkko, "Scott Taylor and New Sensations were the ones who gave me the chance to do this. They believed in me 100 percent, and let me do what I felt. I owe them a lot.
“But the opportunity to work for the best company in the world, Evil Angel, is a dream come true for me. Shit, this is Buttman we're talking about here. If it wasn't for him, I wouldn't be where I am today!"
Darkko plans on beginning production for his first Evil Angel video, as yet untitled, on March 1. “I’m going to do something general, something where I can drop in two or three anal scenes, then maybe some boy/girl scenes. Something I can do anything I want to with,” Darkko told AVN.com. “Then maybe two or three months down the road I’ll do something a little more niche specific.”
With a stable of directors at Evil Angel that includes Joey Silvera, John Leslie, Rocco Siffredi and Jules Jordan, Stagliano has a well-established eye for spotting the adult industry’s top directorial talent.
As with the rest of the directors who distribute through Evil Angel, Darkko will retain ownership of his product.
