John Stagliano’s 'Fashionistas' Dominate the 2007 AVN Awards

Chainsaw guitar riffs and thundering drum machines announced the arrival of John Stagliano's "Fashionistas" to the Mandalay Bay Events Center stage during Saturday night's AVN award show. Five aerialists and numerous dancers, in fetish-themed costumes designed by Jose Luis Vinas, dominated the stage with fluid eroticism that danced between the worlds of seedy S&M fantasy and high society fashion.

Scenes from Stagliano's Fashionistas Safado: The Challenge, which took trophies home for Best Hi-Def Production, Best Group Sex Scene, and Best Supporting Actress for Katsumi's performance, flashed across the JumboTrons behind the dancers, creating a tableau of sexually intense and sometimes disturbing imagery.

An audience of 7,000 roared its approval and satisfaction as the routine climaxed with dancers and aerialists caught in a frenzied display of artistic and acrobatic motion. AVN president Paul Fishbein called the performance "the finest thing we've ever seen at the AVN Awards."

John Stagliano's "Fashionistas," which is based on the 2003 multiple AVN award-winning video of the same name, has been playing to capacity crowds and receiving stellar reviews (Las Vegas Review Journal hailed it as one of "Las Vegas' 10 Best Shows") since debuting at the Desert Passage Mall in the Aladdin hotel in October of 2004.

The next chapter in the Fashionistas video trilogy, Fashionistas Safado: Berlin, is set for release in early 2007. A box set of the two Fashionistas Safado titles, along with a soundtrack CD, will follow.
