Jewel De'Nyle, co-owner of Platinum X Pictures, will begin accepting applications on Monday for Porn Star Idol, a reality-based adult video based on the network TV hit American Idol.
The three-day competition is scheduled for mid-summer at a location in the San Fernando Valley still to be determined.
De'Nyle, the 2000 AVN Female Performer of the Year and one of the top starlets in XXX, will judge the competition along with Jacklyn Lick and a celebrity to be announced.
One male and one female will be awarded $2,500 each on the final day of the competition, and the two will also will be offered a six-picture contract with Platinum X. The only stipulations are applicants must be 18 and cannot be current porn actors or actresses.
Both winners will also be cast in a sex scene with De'Nyle for Platinum X.
De'Nyle, who is producing and directing the project, told AVN.com Friday she attended a recent taping of American Idol and spoke with judges Simon Cowell and Randy Jackson about the idea.
"I'm friends with Simon and Randy. They're the ones who inspired me to do it," she said. "The biggest question I get asked is how did I get into porn? If they can survive this, then they're cut out for porn. This is going to be grueling. It's not going to be easy."
The footage for Porn Star Idol will consist of the entire process from start to finish, including behind-the-scenes, bloopers, interviews with contestants and "who makes it and who gets cut," De'Nyle said.
The girls' competition starts with a striptease and a masturbation session with toys on Day 1. The guys, meanwhile, will have to masturbate and "cum on cue" for the judges on the first day. The contestants who make it to Day 2 must obtain AIDS tests and perform similar acts for the judges in order to make it to the final round on Day 3. De'Nyle said the male and female finalists will have to perform a sex scene together for the judges, and one female and male will win the cash and contract. They will also get the box cover for the video, which De'Nyle wants to release by the end of the year.
