Jennifer Dute Appeals Obscenity Sentence Today

Jennifer Dute went to court today in hope of having her one-year sentence for pandering obscenity overturned.

Dute was convicted on two counts of obscenity last October for selling videotapes of herself having sex over the Internet.

Jennifer Dute's attorney says his client was convicted because she mocked Hamilton County Sheriff, Simon Leis, by naming her web site after him. Leis is commonly viewed as having an antagonistic attitude towards adult entertainment.

Originally, Dute was sentenced to four years, but the judge reduced it to 12 months because Dute has a one-year-old son. Dute has about seven months left to serve in prison if the appeal does not go in her favor.

The court will not rule on the appeal for several weeks. For a related story, click here.
