Jenna Jameson's My Plaything 2: It's A Record-breaker

AVN.com knows the real numbers, but it will suffice to say that New Sensations/Digital Sin's latest interactive release, My Plaything 2 – Jenna Jameson: It's A Boy has not only shattered first week sales records for the company but has also sold six times what its other titles normally move in a shelflife.rnrn

"We've crushed what our normal lines sell in just one volume," New Sensations' Director of Marketing and Media Jeff Mullen told AVN.com, "and it is, at the very least, gratifying."rnrn

The marketing putsch for the second of the interactive Jennas from New Sensations' DVD wing, Digital Sin, has focused on giving the people what they want.rnrn

"Our customers went back to retail establishments (following Jameson's first Plaything) and said, 'We want to see Jenna with a guy'," Mullen said. Jameson has of late performed strictly solo or girl/girl. "And we listen to what our customers say."rnrn

In addition to the guy element, Jenna 2 boasts better color saturation and cleaner lines. Shot with high definition cameras , Jenna 2 also has a host of extras on the two-DVD set.rnrn

Like Carmen Luvana.rnrn

"They loved working together," Mullen said of the girl/girl pairing on Jenna 2. "I mean, they really got into it."rnrn

Mullen said that the presence of Luvana on the project, shot over several sweltering August days last year, was a calculated move to introduce the relatively-new Puerto Rican/Floridian/Brooklynite to a worldwide audience. Luvana was nominated for a Best New Starlet AVN Award this year.rnrn

"We wanted to increase (Luvana's) exposure," Mullen said. "Any time such a young girl jumps into such a high profile project, it increases her stature in the industry."rnrn

So the Jenna affair can act as good publicity for Luvana titles like the upcoming Carmen Goes to College (release date: February 18) as well as an opportunity for Jenna to work with new talent. The technical improvements and adherence to customer feedback were what made Jenna 2 sell, Mullen thinks, and that's good news.rnrn

"The only thing better would be taking Jenna on a date yourself," Mullen muses, then adds: "a happy ending date."
