CHATSWORTH, Calif.—The man quickly becoming porn's male equivalent to Sasha Grey receives another in a rapid-fire stream of mainstream spotlights with a whopping seven-and-two-thirds-page profile in the July issue of GQ magazine, which arrived today on newsstands nationwide.
Titled "The Well-Hung Boy Next Door," the piece by Wells Tower details a week in the life of James Deen, following him on an odyssey of shoots for Digital Playground, Kink.com and Brazzers (in, respectively, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Las Vegas). Porn familiars who cross Deen's path and vice versa over the course of the mini travelogue include: Kayden Kross, Robby D., Allie James, Steve Holmes, Proxy Paige, Isis Love, Tiffany Brookes, Jessica Jaymes and Lizz Tayler.
Between somewhat graphic but artful accounts of the scenes Deen shoots for these companies, Towers relates a tapestry of background information about the 2009 AVN Male Performer of the Year gleaned during their road trips together from one city to the next. Among the topics broached are the loss of Deen's virginity at the age of 12 while attending a Jewish camp, the "self-styled apprenticeship" through which he put himself to train for getting into porn, and his six-year relationship with BurningAngel founder Joanna Angel.
