James Deen Set to Hook Up With Girlfriends Films Distribution

Multi-award-winning performer/producer James Deen is moving the distribution of James Deen Productions to Girlfriends Films effective December 1, starting with three new December releases.

"I've had a relationship with [Girlfriends Films owner] Moose for multiple years, and he and I are on the same page. He and I have talked many times about business and various things," Deen told AVN. "He is a genius."

Girlfriends Films owner Moose was equally enthusiastic. "We are excited to welcome James to the Girlfriends Films Distribution family," Moose said. "His style of movies add a new dynamic to our library, and we in turn hope to offer him a platform to further develop and grow his brand as he sees fit. We'll handle the sales, so James can focus on what he does best: great filmmaking.

"Based on my research, they have had some of the best sales numbers I have seen in years, and the way my company is growing, Girlfriends is a good fit," Deen said. "I'm putting out three to five movies a month, and I have plans for expansion. On JamesDeen.com I'm doing daily updates, and when you count external scenes like stuff I'm doing with Wood Rocket I'm shooting between 25 and 35 scenes a month, plus I'm launching a couple of new websites. I was looking for a brand that works cohesively with mine."

All of Deen's back catalog titles, as well as his clothing lines and signature sex toys, will be available through Girlfriends Films. "All of my [DVD] collection is mine. You'll be able to order all of my movies through Girlfriends."

Deen told AVN that Girlfriends will work with buyers and retailers to help establish his brand at the retail level.

"They have the relationships with the buyers to make an entire James Deen store. Stores can have a James Deen section. I like the fact that we have a unilateral vision of my brand and my company."

Future plans for James Deen Productions include two box sets of the Seven Sins DVDs "with a bonus DVD with all the extras and BTS": a regular commercial edition and a limited-edition collectors' set "like a fancy Scotch in a velvet box." Other plans will be announced in the next few months.

Deen pointed out that his product will remain consistent with the change in distribution.

"It's the same great quality—just a different phone number," Deen said.
