LOS ANGELES—Male performer James Deen will be the subject of a segment on venerable ABC news program Nightline tonight at 11:35 p.m. ET. A veteran of thousands of scenes, the former AVN award winning Male Performer of the Year also is featured in an extensive story on ABCNews.com touting his popularity among women viewers.
“What if that dashing boy-next-door, that one seems wholesome and has a cute smile, was on the Internet beckoning and ready to romance your every whim and sexual fantasy,” wrote Cecilia Vega and Dan Przygoda for ABCNews.com. “That's what women find so appealing about James Deen.”
It’s Deen’s “every guy” persona that makes him attractive and accessible, he believes, despite his intention to fly under the radar upon entering the business. Deen wasn’t on a quest for fame, he just wanted to “do a bunch of scenes, be good at my job, have a lot of fun," he said.
Deen told ABC that he’s been obsessed with porn since he was in kindergarten and found an X-rated magazine.
"I picked it up and I'm like, 'oh my God, this is the cool, this is awesome,'" he said. "It was this weird moment that I will always remember where I was like, this is what I want to be when I grow up. I want to do this."
Deen also hit the news earlier this week when famed author Bret Easton Ellis, who penned American Psycho, among other modern American classics, tweeted that he wanted the 25-year-old Pasadena, Calif. native to star in an upcoming movie he was writing.
“Before bed finishing film treatment for James Deen to star in,” Ellis tweeted on Jan. 19. “He has to act and be full-frontal naked banging girls and guys realistically.”
Then on Jan. 22 he wrote “James Deen is my first choice to play Christian or Ryan in LA noir micro budget Paul Schrader movie I’m writing. Nudity and acting a must…”
On Jan. 28, Ellis tweeted that he “Just had a revealing dinner with James Deen: super-smart, funny, perfect for the part. And if he doesn't get it I will be very disappointed.”
