WEST HOLLYWOOD, Calif.—James Bartholet wears many hats in the entertainment industry, including actor, director, radio host, public relations maven and all-around bon vivant on the adult entertainment scene. So it’s not surprising he also has donned the mantle of teacher.
On Aug. 29, Bartholet again will conduct a workshop geared toward adult performers who want to sharpen their acting chops. This new one-day workshop will cover the basics of acting and improvisation, with on-camera tapings of acting scenes.
“We’ve had good responses from our previous workshops, and a lot of performers have been asking when I’m going to do another, so I decided to do another class this month. With so many parodies and features being shot, we can’t rely on just being able to perform on screen. We’ve got to be able to act as well,” Bartholet said.
The workshops will be in West Hollywood. The price will be $30 per student. Classes are four to five hours long, and interested students should sign up now for the Sunday afternoon workshop, which will start promptly at 1 p.m.
“The workshop will go over scene study, character development, improvisation skills—and we will tape a scene that the students pick from a mainstream film, television, or stage production so they can have tape of themselves doing a mainstream scene,” Bartholet added.
Bartholet has logged years of experience in the mainstream industry and has snagged some juicy character roles in adult features. He was a nominee in 2009 for an AVN Award for Best Non-Sex Performance for Hustler’s This Ain’t Happy Days XXX. Other recent roles have been in Not Really The Dukes Of Hazzard: A Hardcore Parody, The Vow, Not Charlie’s Angels XXX, This Ain’t Cops XXX, The A Team XXX, Not Married With Children 2 XXX, and Drill A Saw Porn Parody.
Bartholet received a degree from Los Angeles Valley College and has trained with ACT in San Francisco and many different acting coaches in Los Angeles. Bartholet has acted in various stage productions from coast to coast, as well as on television and in films, and has performed sketch comedy at the Comedy Store and the Ice House.
