It's a Wrap for James Deen Productions' 'Stockholm Syndrome'

LOS ANGELES—James Deen and Remy LaCroix, who teamed up in one of last year's funniest adult comedies, are back again, but this time in a tense drama. The stars of Squatter (a title Deen directed for Vivid) just wrapped shooting on the James Deen Productions feature Stockholm Syndrome, an intense love story.

For his story, Deen drew inspiration from the psychological phenomenon that afflicts kidnap victims. Stockholm Syndrome marries strong storytelling and high production values with visceral sex—a mix that Deen seeks in his adult movies. The movie is captured in 4k resolution using RED camera technology.

Musing on Stockholm Syndrome, Deen explained that it was an organic way to push his directorial boundaries.

"For Stockholm Syndrome, I really tried to create a good narrative feature. For my other large productions, like the 7 Sins, I focused mainly on symbolism and expression through sexuality. This movie, I wanted to make a movie."

Deen continued, "I was talking to a friend and we came up with a concept that we found interesting. Within a month, I had the script written and started production. I am very proud with how it came out. I couldn't have asked for a better lead than Remy LaCroix and I hope everyone really enjoys it," said the director, who also took the male lead in the movie.

Stockholm Syndrome encompasses classic adventure movie elements, crimes of passion and raw sex, cutting to the heart of Deen's ambitions in melding mainstream and adult cinema.

In Stockholm Syndrome, Deen plays Ian, a nomad making his way across the country via petty crimes. But misdemeanors quickly turn to felonies, when he kidnaps Juliette (Remy LaCroix), whose trophy wife status makes her Ian's perfect target. In a tangled web of chaos and crime, Juliette develops a case of Stockholm syndrome and falls in love with her abductor. Juliette and her cohort then embark on a Bonnie and Clyde adventure to escape their miserable realities.

Stockholm Syndrome also features Kalina Ryu, Nina Elle and Steven St Croix.
