LOS ANGELES—Since he's played Ryan Gosling's character in two porn parodies, Movieline.com posits that adult performer Richie Calhoun is Gosling's "porn doppelgänger."
In an interview with Movieline.com's Amy Nicholson, Calhoun reveals that "from a certain perspective it's a huge compliment," to portray Gosling, the Hollywood A-lister and heartthrob to millions. Calhoun played Gosling's role in the porn parody of The Notebook, Smash Pictures' Diary of Love and Wicked Pictures' Crazy in Love (a parody of Crazy Stupid Love).

The article covers Calhoun's selection of his nom de porn, in which he ironically shares the same last name as Gosling's character in The Notebook, but chose the name long before he was to play the role.
Calhoun admitted to not having seen The Notebook before accepting the role, but watched it prior to shooting in order to mimic some of Gosling's mannerisms.
"He does a very good job with his choice of projects: he's a complete dick who's actually the sweetest guy on earth," Calhoun said of Gosling. "That's pretty much every movie he's ever been in. I think that's a recipe for success in becoming a heartthrob—if that's your goal."
And while Calhoun doesn't have the mainstream exposure James Deen does through his starring role opposite Lindsay Lohan in The Canyons, it doesn't appear he's all that interested in the compromises one makes when they enter commercial moviemaking—or in the pitfalls of celebrity.
"Not in particular, no," Calhoun responded when asked if he had mainstream aspirations. "Working on television for a corporation like ABC or Disney sounds like a nightmare. There's a certain behavior contract that is formed in something like that. You can try to work a bad boy angle like Colin Farrell, who just does whatever the fuck he wants. But though I like acting and acting is fun, it's not as important to me as I think it should be for someone who's an actor-actor. On top of that, what doesn't appeal to me is the public scrutiny and the expectation of good behavior. I have no interest in behaving."
