Few performers can say they’ve won an AVN Award in the same category two years in a row. For April Flores, she accomplished just that by winning BBW Performer of the Year for the second consecutive year. To date, she is the only recipient of the award, instituted last year by AVN to honor porn’s most curvaceous performers.
“My immediate reaction ... was a mixture of gratitude and surprise,” said Flores about how she felt when she was announced as this year’s winner. “I feel supported by the people I respect and by my peers. I feel like I’m a true part of this industry ... independently from Carlos [Batts, her late husband]. Winning this year feels like I am a part of this whole machine that is pornography.”
For 2015, Flores’ part in the machine will include launching a website with her friend, performer-director Courtney Trouble. FatGirlFantasies.com is where her fans may finally see the voluptuous Latina do anal for the first time. “My first anal scene will definitely be for my website that we’re launching in the spring,” Flores said. “If I do something that big it’s going to be for my company, my website. I think it’s going to be cool.”
Flores also hopes to use her site to showcase other BBWs, who she says share a special camaraderie with one another. “The general feeling is that we all want to help each other out ... so I’m really excited to use that momentum to launch my website and to include these women.” Perhaps that momentum can also be used to film a scene with her thinner POTY counterpart, Anikka Albrite, whom April adores. And she is also open to working with men. “I love pussy but I do love a cock.”
