Industry Shows Its Heart for Labor Day Telethon

Bob, vice president at Dane Productions, has announced that the Dane, along with several other fundraising campaigns, will donate a percentage of all its sales for the month of August to the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

“All money collected will be donated during the ‘Jerry Lewis Labor Day Telethon,’” Bob told AVN.com. The annual, nationally-syndicated telethon will air on September 3 and 4.

Bob explained his passion for the cause by saying, “people afflicted with neuromuscular diseases cannot do anything for themselves. They depend on the kindness of others. I have been trying to fight this fight for many years now, and have seen progress and breakthroughs, but no cure, as of yet.

“I would love to spend Labor Day not watching, or participating in the telethon, because in a perfect world, there would be no disease. Every year, I think maybe this is the last year. So far, this is not the case. So myself, and thousands of people throughout the U.S. and Canada will work again this year, and hope this is the end of this story.”

Bob recently announced that he would be representing the Free Speech Coalition at this year’s telethon, along with a handful of volunteers. He told AVN.com that he has found nine volunteers already, and is actively seeking more.

“I spoke to Wankus and Batman of KSEX Radio today,” said Bob. “They were kind enough to plug the MDA Telethon this Labor Day weekend. I really appreciate the support I have been receiving so far. The first day, I had eight people confirmed to work with me, manning the phones. The eight, besides myself, are Mara Epstein, Elizabeth Vasquez, Marty O’Malley, Batman, Belle D’ Leon, Devon Michael,Michelle Freridge, and Dimitri Cosmos."

Bob and Dane Productions will also team up with KSEX as DJ Wankus donates free air-time to publicize the telethon during every slot on the station schedule. "We are always supportive of charity and doing the right thing to help those that have difficulty in their lives. As an industry, we have the ability to make this world a better place and since the MDA have welcomed our donations with open arms, we're opening our hearts to them in return."

Bob will be going on KSEX from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. tomorrow night to discuss the campaign.

“I am also going to be able to sell six premium tickets to the AVN Awards Show in January at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas,” explained Bob. “The nice thing is, these tickets have a face value of $240 each. I will sell them for that price, however, since you can write the check out to MDA, I hope to sell these at more than that, since it is now tax deductible.

“I thank AVN for their support, and want them to know that your generosity will provide summer camp for at least two kids, three flu shots, and some minutes for research that is so desperately needed…I am touched by the generosity.”

Bob said that he is always actively seeking support from the industry. “I work until four o’clock each day, but after that, I’m available to speak to anyone who is interested."

Bob said that interested parties can reach him at (818) 349-6600 or 888-390-0767, and at (818) 400-4190 after business hours.

“I hope I get so many calls, I lose twenty pounds just running around.”
