Ideamax: In Sync with VoD's Evolution

Established in 1997, Ideamax Corp. is a veteran in the Adult industry. The Pasadena, Calif.-based company has evolved rapidly over the years, and now specializes in content distribution and DVD retail, with a current focus on VoD. The Ideamax portfolio currently spans a slew of companies, including XonAir.com, JapanX.com, and XBCash.com.

Ideamax has emerged to become a key player in online DVD sales, DVD door-to-door rentals and online video sex chat, penetrating not only the mainstream markets but niche markets such as Adult anime, Japanese and gay titles, and Adult reality movies. Ideamax is now a key player in online PPV Adult entertainment, with over 4,000 movies currently available online.

Also established in ‘97, XonAir serves as a complete one-stop for Adult entertainment, offering over 100,000 DVDs, VoD, VCDs, VHS tapes, sex toys, streaming video trailers, porn star profiles, and screen shot galleries.

XonAir affiliates receive 15 percent commission on all DVD sales, and 30 percent on all VoD sales. The company uses SSL technology and 128-bit encrypted digital key approved by VeriSign.

For content, XonAir has partnered with hundreds of major studios worldwide. The site also features proprietary shopping cart and security software, and offers a truly international slant with assorted content in Japanese, Chinese, Korean, French, and Spanish.

Also under the Ideamax banner, XBangCash.com serves as a linchpin for the company’s affiliate program. Also with a global slant, including descriptions and content in English, Spanish, Japanese, Chinese, and Korean, XBangCash and XBang.com serve as a hub for all 12 of the Ideamax reality sites, with all original movie content shot on location around the globe within the preceding 90 days. The site features exclusive content in addition to the warehouse of over 4,000 PPV movies, Adult anime, and Japanese hardcore movies.

“This is a new way of marketing an ‘all in one’ site, versus the ‘one password gets you into all sites’ strategy,” says company vice president Dan. “XBangCash offers both pay-per-signup and a revshare program, pay-per-signup paying up to $35 for initial signups with exit consoles, and exit-free consoles paying out $25.”

Payouts are offered on a bi-weekly basis via standard checks, wire, and ePassporte.

According to Dan, “The XBangCash business environment is based on consumer satisfaction. XBC's ideals are to constantly update the sites, content, and programs, based on the wants and needs of XBC's consumers. This business approach allows XBC the ability to be very flexible with its offerings.

“We have several methods of keeping in touch with our customer base,” Dan adds. “We have regular professional surveys of our customers; we have a forum board in place to handle requests, complaints, and suggestions; and we offer 24-hour live customer telephone support and free 1-800 phone numbers for our customers’ convenience.”

XBangCash also offers movie playback on handheld devices running the Pocket PC OS and protected by DRM technology. “Utilizing advanced technologies, XBangCash will be the first to offer full length, high-definition movies powered by Windows Media at 16:9 widescreen aspect ratio,” Dan says.

XBangCash will also support Mac OS X end users with Windows Media Player 9 installed.

Dan says that by creating hardware and software tools specialized for its VoD farm, the company has streamlined the entire post-production process from editing trailers to encrypting files. “Ideamax currently has the ability to take 100 movies per day into VoD and will triple that ability within three months as the demand for VoD increases,” he says.

Ideamax also encodes at up to 2-megabit bit rates for DVD-quality full screen playback, which far exceeds the current industry standard of 300-500-kilobits.

The Ideamax research team is currently developing streaming software technology to digital cell phone devices.

“We are a leader in technology today and we are your leader of technology for tomorrow,” Dan adds.

Beyond the bells and whistles and focusing on the rigors of business, Dan confides, “The moment you separate in your mind this industry from any other industry, is the moment you lose power. The team at XBangCash and Ideamax conducts itself on the level of business professionalism similar to a Fortune 500 company.”

Dan says his central business philosophy is to pick the best in management talent and to also develop new management talent.

“The key factor to all business transactions is the consumer. Whether that consumer is a webmaster in our webmaster sales program, or that consumer is the end-user for one of our 12 consumer sites, our business is focused on their needs and wants. The XBangCash business environment is based on consumer satisfaction.”

This strategic focus is linked to the affiliate ambitions of Ideamax, ambitions Dan says will be bolstered by “creating a profitable and competitive business plan to increasing overall profit margins and getting the best ROI.”

“For surfers and webmasters to maximize on marketing promotions, key factors to running an effective affiliate program are providing good quality and quantity of content,” Dan says.

“Keeping the surfers happy by keeping them updated with new fresh content on a regular basis is important, as is having a good understanding of the specific niche,” Dan adds. “We plan on doing daily updates.”

Other significant keys to a successful affiliate program, Dan says, are consistent release of new products including new marketing tools for promoters, and “having reliable dedicated servers with virtually very little or no downtime.”

Also important Dan says is developing a good relationship between webmasters and customers by providing efficient, fast support. He also cites the need to be equipped with solid backups for billing and hosting-related issues, and understanding their specific needs.

Affiliate hosts should be informed of new billing policies and generally anything that can be affect any aspect of the industry. “This might encompass the current and future industry demands including Windows XP Service pack 2, and new government regulations such as 2257,” Dan says.

In terms of content, Ideamax is the owner of JapanX studio, a maker of high quality Japanese Adult movies, now exclusively distributed by Hustler. Ideamax also has an exclusive agreement with B-Rocks, an Adult reality movie producer in North America who has created movies for such top tier sites as TopBucks and Adult.com.

“As our exclusive director and producer, B-Rocks is filming all fresh and current titles involving several industry standard genres – MILF, lesbian, etcetera – and several industry breakthrough genres such as ‘Late Night Hookups,’ shot in night clubs and evening hangouts everywhere, “ Dan says.

Content will also feature “First Date Sex,” reality movies shot with a “sex on the first date” flavor, and “Asian Loves Black,” with episodes shot all around the world, “exploring the ins and outs of Asian/Black lust.”

Ever expanding its winning team of players, Ideamax has signed on Lizz, formerly the sales and marketing manager for SunnyDollars. Lizz will operate as sales manager and webmaster liaison for the company.
