IVD Wins IFG/Smash-Sponsored Trip to Barcelona’s Ninfa Awards

The 12th annual International Erotic Film Festival in Barcelona last week had a couple of special American guests for its five days of festivities that ended with the presentation of the prestigious Ninfa Awards last weekend.

They were the winners of a contest co-sponsored by IFG and Smash Pictures to see which American distributor could sell the most pieces of IFG’s award-winning Hot Rats, just released in the U.S. by Smash.

The top-selling distributor was New Jersey-based IVD, which sent two representatives. Those lucky winners were still in transit from Europe at posting time and unavailable for comment.

According to Josie Snyder, president of IFG North America, the couple were treated to an all expenses-paid flight to Barcelona and accommodations at the Barcelo Sants hotel. They had passes for every day of the Festival (September 29-October 3) and tickets to the Ninfa Awards Saturday night. They shared a VIP luncheon with a galaxy of international porn celebs including Rocco Siffredi, Ron Jeremy, Jill Kelly and Lexington Steele.

A year ago, IFG’s Hot Rats practically swept the Ninfa Awards, picking up seven at the 2003 Festival. This year the prizes were more evenly distributed.

Elegant Angel’s Compulsion was named Best Movie and Axel Braun Best Director. The only other American honoree was Ron Jeremy, who received a general Best Actor award.

IFG’s Crazy Bullets took home three prizes: Best Spanish Film, along with Best Spanish Director (Narcis Bosch) and Best Spanish Supporting Actress (Carmen).

Rocco Siffredi’s Rocco Meats Suzie, from Evil Angel, was named Best All-Sex Movie, with IFG’s Serial Fucker 5 winning Best Spanish All-Sex Movie. Another Evil Angel release, Nacho Vidal’s She-Male Domination Nation, was named Best Transsexual Movie.

Additionally, Siffredi won the special Jury Prize. Pierre Woodman, Hustler Video’s main man in Europe, was given a lifetime achievement award.

International favorites Katsumi and Rita Faltoyano picked up Best Lesbian Scene for Las Reinas de la Noche. Other winners included Ramon Guevara (Best Spanish Actor), Andrea Moranti (Best Spanish Supporting Actor), and Sandra Uve (Best Screenplay, 616DF).

Audience favorite awards were presented to Biban Norai (Best Director), Syliva Saint (Best Actress) and Francesco Malcom (Best Actor).

The first prize for an XXX short subject went to Robby Blake’s The Last Dream.
